Federal judge puts Florida on 10-year probation after ruling voting law disenfranchises Black voters

U.S. District Judge Mark Walker ruled that portions of the law restricting the use of ballot drop-boxes, assistance for voters, and third-party voter registration drives violated the Voting Rights Act and constitutional protections because they were passed "with the intent to discriminate against Black voters."

Now that would be a real crisis!

This judge was a UF student for seven years.

I was managing a couple parking lots near campus during the same time period, so I might have interacted with him near the law school, but I do not recall his face.

Actually, he can call on the Justice Department to enforce his ruling. And the Justice Department can do things to people in Florida who don’t comply without ever leaving their DC offices, starting with clearing out their bank accounts and canceling their credit cards. Plus much, much, more.

I have not as yet seen any reply from DeSantis or his people about this 'ruling'. It was to be expected that this sort of thing would happen almost immediately in light of such a rational law being passed. I can only hope they had some countermeasures in mind.
