It has alot more to do with what the military objectives are and the rules of engagement.
Yes, it WAS one of the worst, by far.
Ridiculous!
This same journalist might as well call the US Army “yankees”.
My thought exactly!
‘Red army’ LOL.
It is depressing. They have so much and they can’t seem to get moving. There is such a bitter small-mindedness thats ground in to the people and society. They will scheme and threaten and be generally vicious, over pennies, while leaving riches lying untouched. And then they blame others for it. Its a psychological mess.
It is a gross case of that “low trust society” thing.

mmmm.... like China?
That would be problematic.
.
And yet, they are attached, still, to the old Soviet outlook on personal and social relations, on the corrupt and underhanded systems of coping that were the only ways to do anything in Soviet times. They aren’t the right people to create a decent society.
“Russian-Putinist propaganda would be far more effective if it weren’t so petty and so silly.”
There is a certain cadre of pro-Russia shills here on FR, who rely almost exclusively on TASS and various .ru organs, and they regurgitate those reports ad nauseum. Perhaps they are pining for the bygone days of the USSR.
When I was in the military I was with the USAFSS (back in those days it was Air Force Intelligence). I was in west Asia, just south of the USSR. It was our mission to intercept every transmission, communication, telemetry, etc. from the Soviet military and intelligence services, as well as Soviet governmental reports, directives; you name it. We also listened to their radio and TV stations. I know for a fact that what the Soviet media reported differed wildly from what we knew was happening by listening to their classified stuff. The duplicity was hilarious. NEVER TRUST RUSSIAN MEDIA REPORTS!
Talk about sawing off the limb you’re sitting on.
As silly as the movie Battle of the Bulge was, it was based on a few historical facts. And it’s great entertainment with a lot of great actors.
You mean you doubt that Dano from Hawaii Five O defeated the Germans by rolling barrels full of gasoline down a hill and into the tanks?
That “yankees” was and still is quite popular in some places.
Guess Putin didn’t think his cunning plan through.
D’oh ,LOL
I get it, but I’m referring to the actual time “yankees” wore blue polished cotton uniforms.
Absolute best scene is the “Panzerlied” song. In there too is the great bit of acting between the colonel and the sergeant. The looks on their faces tell volumes. It did have a great cast and, in spots, great acting.

I enjoyed it too. Robert Shaw was great as Colonel Hessler.
Its gone way beyond 1865. Yankee became a global brand and epithet, like kleenex and xerox.
Guess Putin didn’t think his cunning plan through.

Think again, the dollar is dethroned, the Ruble is now tied to oil and gold, the west’s inflation will rise exponentially to the amount of US dollars returning ( $7-11 trillion by estimates), food chains disrupted, our defense and aircraft manufacturers panicked by the loss of Russia’s titanium and other strategic metals, the list is long.
Europe strangled by the lack of NG, Russian energy, being forced to buy with Rubles ( Ruble demand increasing) , EU steel users being shut down ( they used steel from Russia, and metals), …
My AK by Izhmash is Russian. Fun to shoot and easy to clean.
