I wonder how much this cost the Chinese in bribes.
Oops! I meant to say I wonder how much this cost the Chinese in “consulting fees”.

The Solomon Islands are part of the Commonwealth of Nations - they should have a security pact with those countries, not China.

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare on Tuesday rejected concerns that regional safety would be jeopardized by the treaty. Sogavare called such concerns "utter nonsense," adding that "I find it very insulting ... to be branded as unfit to manage our sovereign affairs. ... Under the terms of the draft agreement, China could send police, military personnel and other armed forces to the Solomon Islands "to assist in maintaining social order" and for a variety of other reasons. It could also send warships to the islands for stopovers and to replenish supplies, leading to speculation about the possibility of China establishing a naval base on the islands. Deepening concerns, the draft agreement stipulates that China would need to sign off on any information that is released about joint security arrangements, including at media briefings. The Solomon Islands, home to about 700,000 people, switched its diplomatic allegiance from Taiwan to Beijing in 2019 - a contributing factor to riots in November last year between residents of different islands within the country. Doesn't sound like you have any "sovereign" affairs. This sounds like something on the magnitude that the Queen / Governor General should step in and fire this guy and veto the pact.

The Solomons are not showing the wisdom of their namesake.

The Solomons are still part of the British Commonwealth. Does not her Majesty still have power over them? Or at least, kick them out of the Commonwealth?

Bought off by the Reds, aided indirectly by the semi-MARXIST woman PM or New Zealand. Her red chickens have come home to roost.
Researcher/author Trevor Loudon, www.keywiki.org, warned us about earlier KGB ops against US fleet berthing agreements in NZ back in the 80s and of major communist/MARXIST penetration of the US Congress, esp under Obama, in the 2000s - “The Enemies Within” books.
The Red Chinese are now out to get forward-positioning bases in the Pacific, and they are aimed the US and our allies.
