Russia has killed civilians in Ukraine. Kyiv’s defense tactics add to the danger. (Ukraine using human shields)

KYIV, Ukraine — The suspected Russian missile hit the tall apartment building, engulfing it in flames and smoke. It killed at least four people, including elderly residents, and shattered the lives of a close-knit community. For lawmaker Oleksii Goncharenko, the tragedy was yet another example of potential Russian war crimes. “They are just hitting residential buildings in these areas,” said the Ukrainian parliament member, who arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion two weeks ago. “You can walk around, you will not find any military targets, or any military people. This is just terror.” Yet a few minutes later, the whooshing sound of Ukrainian rockets fired from a multiple rocket launcher startled residents staring blankly at their destroyed homes. Then, another outgoing barrage. The weapons seemed to be nearby, perhaps a few streets away, certainly well inside the capital.

The accusations against Ukranians using women and children DELIBERATELY as human shields has been made since he beginning of the invasion.

Did anybody check for the truth or falsity of this claim?

Didn’t you hear? Proof is not required in this war.

This article is just touching the tip of the iceberg. The majority of the Ukrainian population supports the Russian objectives but held hostages by their military.

A lot of nonsense claims being made about both sides.

First off, it's impossible to defend a city from ground attack without risking civilian lives. The civilians have to hide out in basements or shelters as best they can. The notion that the Ukrainians are using them as human shields is nonsense for two main reasons: a) it confers absolutely no military advatnage against Russian forces. They have never given a rat's patooty about causing civilian casualties. Not in WWII, not in Afghanistan, not in Grozny, not in Syria. b) it would severely damage the image of Ukrainian forces with their own people, and that support is critical to the Ukrainian war effort.

Second, the Russians are using indiscriminate bombardment of areas with civilians because that's all they can do. With a few exceptions they don't have precision weaponry. The only real war crimes are the cases where the Russians are using precision weaponry or deliberately bombing targets marked as civilian shelters or hospitals.

RE: The majority of the Ukrainian population supports the Russian objectives but held hostages by their military.

You mean the majority of Ukranians actually want to be part of Russia instead of a separate country?

Which survey tells us this?

There are no objectives to include Ukraine into Russia. Although the people of Donbas obviously want to be in Russia.

When the CIA’s house rag accuses their proxy of using human shields, you can take it to the bank that the cowards in Kiev are using human shields.

Take it to the bank.

“First off, it’s impossible to defend a city from ground attack without risking civilian lives.”

Bullshit. That’s a lie.

Those forces have the option of joining their enemy in the field.

But they are cowards, so they do not.

The Ukrainians were killing women and children for years by shelling the Donbas. That’s one of the causes of this war.

Supposedly this Russian missile (aimed at who knows where) was shot down by the Ukrainians, and when it came apart, it struck a building where the Ukrainians had gathered civilians together. It does seem as if they are trying to use their people as human shields and not even letting them flee. Supposedly the Ukrainians actually do have things of military value in these buildings, such as communications or even armaments.

Do they? Who knows? I honestly don’t know what’s going on, and I wouldn’t say our press has been very helpful. They’re all too busy covering up for Biden to go look for real information.

LOL Your point is simply ridiculous. Bastogne. Hue. Berlin. Breslau. Danzig. The list of cities for which defenders fought block by block is endless.

the whole war is propaganda

had Ukraine not violated a treaty Russia would have never invaded.

they simply wanted the contested areas that wanted to succeed from Ukraine

breaking treaties starts wars

And the Russians have been doing the same to Ukrainian held areas.

Do you people actually believe the nonsense you're spouting?

“The majority of the Ukrainian population supports the Russian objectives but held hostages by their military.”

What is your source, tovarisch? You just pull things out your ass and fling it against the wall. If Russia’s invasion is so popular with the Ukrainian people, why haven’t they rushed to welcome them? Why is everyone fleeing AWAY from Russia and Russian forces, and headed to western and NATO countries? Poland alone has received around 3 million refugees fleeing the Russian invasion; how many went north to Belarus? How many went north to Russia? A handful may have gone east to Russia, but they were likely Russian citizens to begin with, with no affection for or allegiance to Ukraine.

Yup. But, you’re making too much sense, and the pro-Russians do not like that.

There are 4 million Ukrainian refugees in Russia. In the current conflict they are running towards Russia every time their military can’t shoot them in the back. There are tons of evidence to it I already posted here.
