That was actually one of the (legitimate) reasons for Putin’s show of force, which only escalated because of the taunts of Biden and Zelensky. 14,000 people in the Donbas (most of them Russians) have died in Ukrainian attacks since the 2014 coup. And these are UN and other NGO figures, not Russian figures.
The Ukrainians and the mercenaries (Azov brigade) were very fond of rape and horrible methods of execution.
I honestly don’t understand why this has gone so crazy. It should have been worked out diplomatically (because Ukraine had violated the agreements repeatedly), and I think it probably would have been without Biden’s involvement.
