THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) – Dutch brewing giant Heineken says it is pulling out of Russia amid Moscow’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
The company said Monday that its business in Russia “is no longer sustainable nor viable in the current environment. As a result, we have decided to leave Russia.”

Really punish them. Make them drink Bud Light.
Judging by how that beer tastes, they just did Russia a favor.
WOW! That’ll make ‘em stop the attacks!
Bud Light is not beer. It is a beer-like-substance. :P
I had it fresh a few times and liked it ok. But -way- too often, I get a skunky one.
They are transferring everything to a newly-registered Russian-based operator in fact. Unfortunately, Bud Light remains.
Heineken sucks. It’s truly my least favorite beer. It tastes like salt water. This might just be one of the best things to happen to Russia in a generation.
Russians will still be able to get drunk?
“Bud Light?”
Sometimes governments put weapons into storage until they are needed. It might be time to bring back Olympia and send cases to the Russia army. Anything a business has to discontinue making because they can’t sell it for cost could be bad enough to change a war. Mark the boxes “Kilroy was here.”

[Heineken] == [headache in a bottle]
Is this another case of a minority shareholder trying to shut down a company? Like the Burger King drama earlier this month?
The Russians are probably cheering. Yeesh that beer was susceptible to “skunk beer” condition.
Nope, AFAIK they ran the whole operation and plan to continue to do so by proxy.

McDonald’s knockoff ‘Uncle Vanya’ unveils nearly identical logo after Russian stores close
"A March 12 trademark filing with the Russian government showed an image that closely resembles the McDonald’s logo turned on its side. The sketchy filing shows a Cyrillic letter “B,” which references the “V” in “Uncle Vanya,” cast in yellow against a red background.
The application appeared online after Russian officials indicated they remove patent protections for companies linked to countries deemed hostile to Russia — a response to crippling international sanctions and a mass exodus of Western companies in response to the Ukraine invasion.
“They announced they are closing. Well, okay, close. But tomorrow in those locations we should have not McDonald’s, but Uncle Vanya’s,” Volodin said."
Long lines formed at stores and in drive-thrus in Russia after McDonald’s announced the store closures. Many Russians began hoarding and selling McDonald’s products at exorbitant prices via online platforms."
Well, the Russians will just have to go back to Berlin and take it.
They have to take Manhattan, first.
I'll drink them, and will never buy the stuff again.
