While there are some people who actually do want to commit U.S. troops, I think the majority of those supporting Ukraine want to limit that support to material and economic sanctions. So they don't endorse sending yours or anyone else's grandkids to go die in Ukraine.

I also don't like the idea of doing some internal political calculus on which party benefits domestically because the country is supporting Ukraine. I think we should decide what the right thing is to do on its own merits, and let the political chips fall where they may.

Personally, I don't think it will help Democrats in the slightest anyway, except in those rare cases where there may be a Republican opposed to providing any assistance to Ukraine at all. In that case, it's not support for Ukraine that is helping Democrats but actually the opposite.

I guess you've forgotten about the run up to this and Biden's team almost literally goading Russia into attacking before his delayed SOTU address....
