A New York City education official was forced to resign from her position hours after being appointed following reports she had previously labeled homosexuality as a sinful behavior alongside adultery, pedophilia, and fornication.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams requested the resignation of the Rev. Kathlyn Barrett-Layne from the city's Panel for Education Policy Tuesday afternoon after reporting from the New York Daily News highlighted writings by Barrett-Layne saying homosexuality was sinful.
In an interview with the New York Times, Barrett-Layne claimed her comments were taken out of context.
"I feel bullied. I believe that the city is being bullied,” she said. "I feel as though my character, my name, my church have been defamed with lies and that everything was taken out of context."
Barrett-Layne, a pastor at Reach Out and Touch Ministries International in New York City's Staten Island, had previously written a book titled Challenging Your Disappointments as Appointments With Destiny that said Christian leaders dealt with the same temptations their congregations did, including homosexuality.
"Leaders struggle with the same temptations of drugs, alcohol, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, pedophilia, stealing, lying, envy, covetousness, and every other sin that the congregation struggle with," she wrote in the book.
The writings were first reported by the New York Daily News and resulted in Barrett-Layne's resignation hours after Adams announced her appointment to the panel.
A spokesperson for Adams told the New York-based newspaper the mayor's office had not been aware of her previous writings when she was appointed to the position.
“We were unaware of these writings and we’ve asked her to resign,” the spokesperson said.
Barrett-Layne told the New York Times she is "not homophobic" and may take legal action against the city.
She’s Black. Sexual immorality trumps race.
Grounds for discrimination lawsuit.
Her religious beliefs did not pass the government litmus test.
There have been, and continue to be, various steps or progressions with regard to various things in our society, including homosexuality, that have been affecting our culture. Included among them are these:
1. ‘’You are crazy for suggesting that something like that could ever happen around here.’’
2. ‘’It’s not that widespread, and it would cause more harm than good to outlaw it.’’
3. ‘’A lot of good people, including some of my friends, participate in it.’’
4. ‘’It’s really not that bad.’’
5. ‘’Those who oppose it are extremists who are worse than the problem itself.’’
6. ‘’We need as a society to marginalize those who oppose it.’’
7. ‘’We need to enact laws to prosecute and silence the bigots who oppose this.’’

Way to often minorities and females are pushed to be spokespeople for causes because "they will not dare to attack them because they are (fill in victim group of the week).
I always tell them to go ask Anita Bryant how that worked out for her.
Understand, when you come out for an anti-nihilistic position you are going to be attacked viciously.
You are standing up to the forces of hell.
You are going to get scorched.
And the people who pushed you out there will NOT have your back.

Sexual immorality trumps everything these days. My theory is that it all comes down to plain vanilla fornication or adultery. The majority of people want that to be “good,” and in order to defend that, they have to buy into the whole whichever and whatall.
She obviously miscalculated.
Adams is proving to be a real loser.
Well its good to know the hierarchy of the special groups.
One of the very few time the woman card doesnt win.
Right now it is a neck and neck between sexual immorality and the mohammedans, but I repeat myself.
Depends on where you are as to who wins.
I hope she gets a public interest law firm that defends Christians to sue their asses.
Refuse to resign. Make them fire you.
Then sue for religious discrimination.
