French car manufacturer Renault has announced that it is suspending work at its Moscow factory once more.

The Board of Directors of Renault Group met today and approved the following items:

Renault Group activities in its manufacturing plant in Moscow are suspended as of today.

Regarding its stake in AVTOVAZ, Renault Group is assessing the available options, taking into account the current environment, while acting responsibly towards its 45,000 employees in Russia.

Putin needs to bring in some of the big Chinese car makers to take it over and make their own cars.
Who wants Renault’s anyway?

Renault used to make Ladas in Russia. Not any more. Nice to see 45,000 Russians lose their jobs. Consquences.

Plenty of Europeans out of work too, due to lack of Russian parts for their cars. So pretty much the same. Kind of. Except that when this crap ends, Russians will again be able to buy gasoline/diesel, whereas Europeans are being force-marched into electric cars.

No factory assets for Renault.

Of course, maybe Pooty will sell them back to the dumb Frogs priced in roubles...

France is no worse than the US for outsourcing.

They build the Renault Duster. Did Chrysler (Stellantis) give up that name?

Also the Renault Arkana, do they have a Bill Clinton signature model?

Do some research. Moscow plant was building the original Renaults. Ladas are made in Togliati, Izhevsk and only two models are Renault-related, the rest are local and use local components entirely.
The move is stupid on part of Renault and going to accelerate their demise because Russia is their top foreign market.

Sure, Lada is going to keep going. VW and BMW already closed.

Who cares? Rented a Renault one time in France. Complete piece of junk.

To bring things into perspective, Russia is the biggest Renault’s foreign market, nearly equal to the domestic market. Exactly a third of their profits came from Russia.

For Lada, it is barely a problem. They have two models based on the Renault platforms, and one trim of another model using Renault powerplant, that’s out of seven models total.
