In WW1, there were apparently, a great number of British Army officers who died via .303 wounds in the back. Not so many Royal Marine officers, or Canadian officers. Of course, RM and Canadian (and Aussie and Kiwi) officers generally all advanced via ability, rather than ‘cash’ and ‘breeding’.
