Ukraine 'running out of weapons' as other countries 'fail to send promised aid'

Ukraine is believed to be running out of weapons as it continues to hold off Russian forces, amid warnings some countries have failed to send promised aid.

Western nations have thrown their support behind the war-torn nation following Vladimir Putin's invasion on 24 February.

According to The Times, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told Boris Johnson that his country was getting through a week's supply of weapons in just 20 hours as the Russian attack and constant shelling comes on multiple fronts.

But while many countries have promised weapons to help bolster the Ukrainian arsenal, some have not kept up the supply.

Paul Grod, president of the Ukrainian World Congress, told the newspaper that some nations – including Germany and France – had not delivered promised arms.

Following the reports, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that further supplies of Strela missiles were on the way to Ukraine following delays.

"I can clearly say that further Strela deliveries are on the way," Baerbock told the Bundestag lower house of parliament.

"We are one of the biggest weapons suppliers in this situation, it doesn't make us proud but it's what we must do to help Ukraine," she added.

According to The Times, Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has said the military only has a fortnight of anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles left.

Some countries have sent extra weapons in previous days, which he said has only “partially improved” the situation.

Ukrainian troops are also said to have resorted to using captured Russian “trophies”, such as vehicles and other equipment, to boost its own supplies and use against the invading force.

On 9 March, British defence secretary Ben Wallace told the House of Commons that the UK had delivered 3,615 anti-tank (NLAW) weapons and would soon supply a “small consignment” of Javelin

Maybe they could collect money from the corrupt politicians and oligarchs to buy some more. They’ve got plenty of money.

Sending weapons to the Ukrainians to prolong the slaughter is immoral.

Many NATO countries learned over the years to let the U.S. bear the greater burden. And it worked for them.

The other post here is that Russia has lost 40K troops and is hopelessly losing? It doesn’t take a genius to see something here doesn’t jive.

How so? Whether you are winning or losing, high-intensity warfare consumes resources at an incredible rate. Same with the Ukrainian pleas for help. Just because you may be winning strategically doesn't mean a lot of people aren't getting killed, and a lot of infrastructure destroyed.

Then it’s not really a week’s supply is it?

I believe that was Zelensky's point.

Globohomo thinks and acts female - unsurprisingly.

They want to stop a mechanized army with the equivalent of a restraining order.

“German POS said sending the aid “doesn’t make us proud” but they must do it. What a vile statement to kiss Russian ass.”

No kidding.

Germany is even more unreliable than the French when it comes to defense.

So it's more moral to let under-armed Ukrainians be killed by the Russians?

Nobody is forcing the Ukrainians to fight. If the people just wanted it to be over and to surrender, they wouldn't be putting up the fight they are.

I know a fair number of Ukrainians, many of whom have family friends still in Ukraine. The sentiment to stop fighting and just give in to the Russians is non-existent.

but but but……I thought the Ukes were winning. I thought Russian forces were surrounded. I thought they were deserting. I thought their morale had collapsed. I thought Putin was about to be overthrown. I thought the Russian economy had collapsed. What happened?

Why does Ukraine say they’re running out of weapons? With all the Russians they claim to have killed, there should be plenty of weapons lying all over the ground.

There was mention somewhere I forget where that US arms supplies were being deliberately held up by some bureaucracy.

US logistical teams could have gotten everything across the border an to the UA within days, but were stopped in their tracks, according to that mention.

When the Ukrainians made the choice in the early 1990’s to go out on their own, they took the gamble both as a growing nation and separating part of the soviet block. Half of that was still developing but the other half, the separation, was beyond their power to control.

Now that Putin’s Russia is demanding the return of the property and it’s benefits to their complete control, the Ukraine has run out of time as it was only a matter of it.

They have way too much for Russia to pass up being among the world leaders in grain and steel. They also house a number of natural gas pipelines from Russia already in place that feeds Europe. The Donetsk region is home to a port that ships out grains and metals, as well as major steel mills for export.

The only reason they have lasted this long in the skirmish is that Russia wants to use the pieces of the country they are attacking. But at some point they are going to have to play hardball and decide what to lose to win.
