NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday the alliance is likely to bolster troops along its eastern flank, deploying four new battle groups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia.
“I expect leaders will agree to strengthen NATO’s posture in all domains, with major increases in the eastern part of the alliance on land, in the air and at sea,” Stoltenberg said during a press conference ahead of the NATO leaders summit in Brussels.

Russia is being demilitarized. NATO will be strengthened. EU will be off Russian energy by 2027.
Trump's desire for Germany to import LNG, raise defense spending to 2% of GDP are a done deal.
I couldn't have dreamed of a better outcome from this war.
How about Trump as President again?
Who pays the lions share of NATOs expenses?
Yup, the KGB chess grand master would up being nothing more than a poseur, a grade B tic tac toe player.
Get rid of Putin, his henchmen and the propagandists and eventually the Russian people can have a brighter future.
“How about Trump as President again?”
That would be nice.
When Biden took office, I didn’t think he would live 4 years and complete his term. Harris would then take over and fall on her face and Harris would lose in 2024.
Now, because of the war, I’m praying Biden lives for 3 more years. Imagine Harris facing off with Putin! Maybe she will laugh him to death.
> EU will be off Russian energy by 2027. <
We buy all sorts of stuff from Red China. That doesn’t seem to bother most people. And folks have short memories anyway. So once the dust settles, I’ll bet the EU will start buying Russian natural gas again, especially if it’s cheap enough and Putin is gone.
NATO will not raise defense spending to 2% and no one will be off Russian oil by 2027. It’s just talking, just like climate change. Apparently there will be no gas cars on the road in the next 5 years. This double speak can be seen in the form of balance budgets in Congress that somehow leaves to record deficits every year. Thanks for playing though.
“That doesn’t seem to bother most people.”
During the Trump years, I was the loudest proponent on FR of Trump’s tariffs. Never met a tariff I didn’t like.
My tagline used to be: Localization, Not Globalization.
With the War, I like:
Whenever a Russian soldier is killed, an Angel gets its wings
Maybe it’s time to give some thought to showing Putin a way out that will allow him to save face. If he has no options, he’s more likely to decide if it’s going to be over for him, it might as well be over for mankind. No one in the history of our species has had that alternative.
“Russia is being demilitarized. NATO will be strengthened. EU will be off Russian energy by 2027.”
Wishful thinking on your part. Demilitarized, lol. Off Russian energy? Yeah if you don’t mind paying $10-$15 a gal for gas.
“So once the dust settles, I’ll bet the EU will start buying Russian natural gas again, especially if it’s cheap enough and Putin is gone.”
Likely. But the problem is not with the Russian people, per se; it is with their fascist leadership. I think most of the Russian people want good relations with the West.
NATO shouldn’t even exist
“I couldn’t have dreamed of a better outcome from this war.”
Are you ready to see family incinerated for that awesome outcome? The fat lady hasn’t sung on this whole thing yet. When the air raid klaxons near your house sound, get back to me on the wonderful outcome.
> But the problem is not with the Russian people, per se; it is with their fascist leadership. <
Agreed. Hitler’s second in command Hermann Goering once remarked that the average person in every country just wants to be left alone to provide for his family. It’s the job of the national leadership to whip the people into a war frenzy.
Putin is attempting that now, evidently with only limited success.
And as a matter of fairness, I must note that George W. Bush did much the same thing in regards to Iraq. The American people understood the necessity of going into Afghanistan. But we had to be manipulated into supporting the Iraqi invasion.
What are the specific US national security interests in becoming overtly involved in the Russian-Ukraine war?
“And as a matter of fairness, I must note that George W. Bush did much the same thing in regards to Iraq. The American people understood the necessity of going into Afghanistan. But we had to be manipulated into supporting the Iraqi invasion.”
Agreed.
No US boots on the ground in Ukraine. No US deaths.
Russia, our enemy, has lost 10,000 dead and another 25,000 injured.
What a great story.
But we had to be manipulated into supporting the Iraqi invasion.

Not a problem. They know you can fool most of the people most of the time.
“Are you ready to see family incinerated for that awesome outcome? The fat lady hasn’t sung on this whole thing yet. When the air raid klaxons near your house sound, get back to me on the wonderful outcome.”
If Little Pukin uses nuclear weapons, he will die and all Russians. Oh wait, that is why he won’t use them.
Have some common sense.
