Russia demanded that Ukrainians in the besieged city of Mariupol lay down their arms Monday in exchange for safe passage out of town, but Ukraine rejected the offer.

Russian Col. Gen. Mikhail Mizintsev said it would allow two corridors out of the coastal city, heading either east toward Russia or west to other parts of Ukraine.

Mariupol residents were given until 5 a.m. Monday to respond to the offer, which included them raising white flags. Russia didn’t say what action it would take if the offer was rejected.

But Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said no. “There can be no talk of any surrender, laying down of arms.

I hope the Ukrainian re-enact Stalingrad for the Russians. With the Russians playing the part of the Germans.

Stalingrad was never encircled. The Russians always held the east bank of the Volga, and they were able to get supplies, ammunition, and reinforcements across more or less continuously, although with high losses due to aerial attack.

Mariupol is encircled. If it weren’t there would be no necessity of negotiating humanitarian corridors for civilians to leave.

As long as the Rukes allow an exit corridor, the issue takes care of itself.

Had they accepted the reality and corporately surrendered the region could have gone on pretty much in their normal, everyday life.

Unfortunately, you have it backwards. It are the ultranationalist Nazi Azov Battalions terrorizing and murdering the civilians. You can find alternatives to the constantly proven wrong western media/DC propaganda machine but you do have to search.

Putin is ‘syrianizing’ the Ukraine. He is no Christian as revealed by his ignoring the suffering and death he is authoring. The man who replaces him GOD will put hooks in the jaws to drag him toward Jerusalem.

It’s easy to ask defending soldiers to die. If they are defeated militarily, they should lay their arms and survive to fight another day…

“Stalingrad was never encircled.”

I think he probably knows that. I think he was simply referring to the valiant fight to defend the city.

But Freepers call the French “Surrender monkeys” for doing that. In Ukraine’s case, they as a whole, are far from beaten.

Some people just don’t believe is surrenders. Besides, they don’t trust the Russians (and, really, why would they?). This could be a Cawnpore, 1857 all over again, but with a different cast of characters.

The problem with encirclement is that the defenders have
no choice but to fight till the end so the attackers
will suffer heavy casualties till the defenders run out
of ammunition.

The Germans ended up in a circumvallation where the besieged
where able to surround their besiegers.
