The bottomless UNRWA pit of despair (Pallywood "numbers" of so-called "refugees")

The number of “Palestinian refugees” has grown from 711,000 in 1948 to a staggering 5,703,546, as of December 31, 2020. Outrageously, since 2010 alone, the number of “Palestinian refugees” has risen by 883,317 people.

In comparison, two days after the establishment of the State of Israel, the headline of the New York Times declared that Jews were “in grave danger in all the Moslem lands” and that 900,000 would “face the wrath of their foes”:

For many years I refer to these international
welfare Queens as “Fakestinians”

Before Yasser Arafat came up with using the Roman
name for “home of the Jews” to refer to people
who never had a king, country , state. Arafat
was from Egypt.

Rabin is responsible for delivering these terrorists
to the holy land. The UN only exists to give these
begging terrorist money.

Only group in the world to have their own, distinct U.N refugee agency. For one reason only. Their foe are Jews.

The Palestinian refugee hoax

The refugee issue is easily solvable if we return to the definition that applied only to people who lived in Palestine in 1948-1949. Op-ed.

Mitchell Bard, 28.01.21

Palestinians typically claim that 800,000 to 1,000,000 Palestinians became refugees between 1947 and 1949. The last census was taken in 1945. It found only 756,000 permanent Arab residents in Israel. On Nov. 30, 1947, the date the United Nations voted for partition, the total was 809,100. A 1949 Government of Israel census counted 160,000 Arabs living in the country after the war, which meant no more than 650,000 Palestinian Arabs could have become refugees. A report by the U.N. Mediator on Palestine (as of September 1948) arrived at an even lower figure: 360,000. The CIA estimate was 330,000. In 2011, historian Efraim Karsh analyzed the number of refugees by city and came up with an estimate of 583,000 to 609,000.

Israel says Palestinian refugees number in the thousands, not millions

By Reuters. Published: Oct 15, 2018

The fate of Palestinians displaced by the 1948 war of Israel’s founding and their descendants has long clouded US-sponsored peace efforts.

An Israeli government study shared with Washington argues that Palestinian refugees number in the thousands, not the millions designated by a UN aid agency whose funding has been slashed by the Trump administration, an Israeli official said on Friday.

The fate of Palestinians displaced by the 1948 war of Israel’s founding and their descendants has long clouded US-sponsored peace efforts. Frustration over the issue is among factors fueling often violent weekly protests at the Gaza border over the last half year, during which around 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces.

Palestinians demand a refugee right of return to lands now in Israel, which rejects this, insisting they settle where they are or in a future Palestinian state. Negotiations on founding that state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza stalled in 2014.

Demographics loom over the dispute. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees puts their number at some five million, a tally including descendants of the some 700,000 Palestinians who fled or were expelled in 1948.

Israel says only survivors among the original 1948 refugees should be considered refugees today – an idea fiercely opposed by the Palestinian leadership, which hews to the UNRWA numbers.

The Israeli study has not been published and there was no immediate reaction from Palestinian officials or from UNRWA on its numbers.

Tzipi Hotovely, deputy foreign minister, described 2018 as a “turning-point” for UNRWA and its definition of Palestinian refugees, “in that the United States has said ‘no more’ and the State of Israel is closing rank with this policy.”

Speaking to Tel Aviv radio station 102 FM, Hotovely said researchers in her ministry and in the National Security Council had compiled a report determining that there were “a limited number of thousands” of Palestinian refugees today.

“It does not come close to millions,” she said, without elaborating on how Israel’s researchers had calculated those lower figures.

The world’s preferred refugees

By Ron Prosor

Published: June 19, 2013

Unlike other refugees, the Palestinians have their own set of rules, their own funding and even their own international agency, the UNRWA.

For millions of refugees, World Refugee Day is a day like any other. From Mali to South Sudan and from Myanmar to Haiti, countless men, women and children will once again awaken today to an uncertain future.
