California governor floats $100M plan for tribes to buy land

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday proposed giving Native American tribes $100 million so they can purchase and preserve their ancestral lands.

"There's so much that we need to learn, obviously, from the tribal communities about how to do this," Crowfoot said. "We've disconnected ourselves from all the tribal ecological knowledge that we need to heal and care for the lands."

"Unfortunately we also know that the state has had a role in violently disrupting those relations." We all have interdependent relations with land, waters, and everything that makes up every state of the union. The state is currently violently disrupting those relations in order to reestablish the remnants of those who conquered others to obtain those lands in time immemorial. There is a certain lunacy to our modern-day sentiment that we reestablish those that despise us.

Crazy, they’re doing this anyway. Since my state gave the tribes casino licenses for dimocRAT political donations, Washington State gaming compact is the worst of all.

The tribes have been buying land like crazy with the profits from their money trees. The land in Washington is either fee land or trust, fee is land the owners pay property taxes on and trust land is reservation or public lands.

Once the tribe buys fee land they transition it to trust land after 5 years. As a state that relies on property taxes to fund schools the removal of fee land to trust land creates whopping holes in the budgets. There’s no need to expedite the process other than to garner patronage.

It all started with Noxious Nixon when he decided Alaskan Indians - aboriginals then, needed to be included in some legal format.

That gave rise to granting aboriginals ‘corporate’ status. So now Alaskan Indians have variously named corporations, laying claim to all manner of benefits only they have the ‘right’ to use or access.

That disease spread south to Washington State, beginning the battle over fishing ‘rights’ between the State, the tribes and the public in general. WA v Fishing Vessel Assoc SCOTUS decision basically granted Federally recognized Tribes superior rights over everyone else in America, to the point of completely contradicting previous long held Treaties.

From that and other legal decisions came Tribal Casinos with Indonesian financing and zero accounting, which all gave rise to the Tribal “we-waz-created-here” theory as the basic justification for all their special rights. Many imagine that they deserve these rights, but in reality the benefits accrue only to the ruling families with a few sops thrown to the crowd for appearances sake - the Families are the equivalent of the Deep State in Tribal politics.
