The International Energy Agency said Friday that a shortage of oil supply worldwide tied to Russia's invasion of Ukraine can be countered with specific actions to reduce consumption that governments and citizens can take immediately.
A report issued by the IEA on Friday includes a 10-point plan that it says "could lower oil demand by 2.7 million barrels a day within four months -- equivalent to the oil demand for all the cars in China."
"As a result of Russia's appalling aggression against Ukraine, the world may well be facing its biggest oil supply shock in decades, with huge implications for our economies and societies," said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol in a statement issued with the report.

Read that earlier, pretty funny. Sounds like the Carter days, lower the speed limit, etc.
People will adjust consumption when THEY want to adjust. I’ve adjusted not all for example, and I won’t be adjusting. Summer is coming and I will be driving a lot more. Everyone I talk to say gas is really high but none of them have said they are driving less.

There is no shortage. It’s a self induced supply issue. All they have to do is get it. They refuse to even attempt improving the supply.
Personally, anyone that advocate getting rid of fossil fuels shout be instantly shut off from using it. The only way they will smarten up is to live in the Utopia they so desire.

“Mandatory Covid lockdowns would reduce oil consumption.”
Those rules increased oil consumption. We all drove right by those highway signs that said: “Do not drive more than 10 miles from home.” We drove and camped and hiked and used a lot of gas 4-wheel-driving on trails because they couldn’t stop us from doing that. Lot of driving and picnics. And now millions more have trailers they pull all over the place. Summer is coming, and lots of driving is coming with it.

The agency, which advises developed countries on their energy policy, listed the following recommendations to reduce consumption:
- Reduce speed limits on highways by 6 miles per hour.
- Work from home up to the three days per week, where possible.
- Implement "car-free" Sundays in cities.
- Reduce cost of public transportation and offer incentives for walking and cycling.
- Restrict private cars' use of roads in large cities. Increase car sharing and adopt practices to reduce fuel use.
- Promote efficient driving for freight trucks and delivery of goods.
- Using high-speed and night trains instead of planes where possible.
- Avoid business air travel where alternative options exist.
- Reinforce the adoption of electric and more efficient vehicles.

Now that precedent for them has been set I fully expect the next round of lockdowns to be enforced with heavy sentences for non compliance, as in China currently.
The global oligarchs are singing from the same sheet music now.

Let me see. A little over a year ago, the USA was self-sufficient in oil production. Suddenly in a year's time all that oil has disappeared. Aliens.
