On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said European nations that are “much more reliant upon Russia for natural gas and for oil,” are “doubling down” on becoming energy independent through green energy, “and we should be doing the same.”
Co-host Brianna Keilar asked, “[W]e’ve seen these reports, the administration’s reaching out to Saudi Arabia and to Venezuela. I think folks that many Americans might consider unsavory characters, in this search for energy, to kind of fill this Russian energy void. How should Americans view this?”

I wonder why these nations that have invested so heavily in green energy are somehow still dependent on Russia? What a mystery, I cannot think of what the reason could be. But we should do the same thing, that will solve our problems.
I agree. We should be doing more of what Europe is doing to become independent of Russian oil. I’ve been closely following the Denmark company, Copenhagen Atomics, that is leading the way towards developing the newest thorium fueled molten salt reactor (MSR) design and prototype. Their design is largely based on the successful thorium reactor that was demonstrated in 1969 at Oak Ridge National Labs in Tennessee.
Unlike the mega project reactors planned by their competitors, their reactor is built on an assembly line and is the size of a 40 ft. shipping container.
They will be testing their initial prototype later this year to validate and tweak the high temperature processing loop components before loading it with radioactive thorium fuel to produce heat. Beside generating electricity, it is designed to actually burn the radioactive waste products of existing nuclear reactors that now have to be stored for thousands of years.
Once they have demonstrated a working reactor to the EU regulatory agencies and gotten their blessing, they will schedule an IPO stock offering in 2025. These are the kind of hands-on engineers that used to come out of our US universities in the 1960s.
Oh… I see. The Germans aren’t re-opening their brown coal plants. They’re going to burn GREEN coal!
