White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday struggled to defend President Biden’s decision to give Ukraine $800 million worth of “defensive” guns, rockets and exploding drones while withholding “offensive” fighter jets to challenge Russia’s invasion.
David Sanger of the New York Times pressed Psaki at her regular briefing about the distinction, noting that even ground-based weapons can shoot down Russian planes.
“I think you just said that you didn’t want to have NATO pilots bringing down Russian planes. But under the administration’s policy of moving out this long range anti-aircraft [weaponry], it’s OK to have NATO equipment bringing down Russian planes, as long as it’s launched by Ukrainians?” Sanger asked.

Inch by inch. Vietnam redux
I can’t watch the psaki in these pressers. She is condescending, always talking down to pretty much anyone in the room, and it’s clear she only has a set of talking points and can’t directly answer challenging questions.
Everyday is a struggle for Psaki. I don’t know whether to hate her or pity her. Her job is to spit shine pooh.
There’s something happening here...
Lots of rhetoric.

For What It’s Worth
Song by Buffalo Springfield
Lyrics
There’s somethin’ happenin’ here
But what it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
A-tellin’ me I got to beware
I think it’s time we stop
Children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down
There’s battle lines being drawn
And nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speakin’ their minds
A-gettin’ so much resistance from behind
I think it’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down
What a field day for the heat (ooh-ooh-ooh)
A thousand people in the street (ooh-ooh-ooh)
Singin’ songs and a-carryin’ signs (ooh-ooh-ooh)
Mostly say “Hooray for our side” (ooh-ooh-ooh)
It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
You step out of line
The man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down
Stop, hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down (we better)
Stop, now, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down (we better)
Stop, children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s going down

Yep, and Putin will answer that question for her when he takes out their bases, wherever they may be.
She drives me nuts when she has to flick her hair every time before answering a question. Doesn’t she have a barrette or some hair spray.
There is hardly any difference between offensive and defensive weapon. It is how it is used.
The Mig’s will be used in the defense.
I don’t even think she has a make up (or, hairdresser) person.
Her make up, hair and wardrobe are all atrocious.
I am not seeing a need for aircraft.
How many sorties is Russia flying a day and what is the Ukraine success rate with the stingers.
It doesn’t seem Ukraine is flying the aircraft they have…or were they all destroyed?
And if additional aircraft are provided what are the chances they would just be destroyed by missiles and shelling when on the tarmac.
More difficult to target stingers IMO
Ukraine needs a missile defense system more than they do aircraft, but it is too late for that. What happened to the BUK system Ukraine had?
Provide weapons. The enemy still advances. Provide advisers and logistic support The enemy still advances. Panic. Stage false flag. Pour in combat troops. Quagmire. Body bags pile up. Start slow retreat. Sounds familiar
The teleprompter is in her eye ball. It’s an Eon Flux thing.
Why the Hell aren’t we sending Harpoon antiship missiles to protect the port of Odessa? It’s the largest port on the Black Sea.
Some reporter (yes, this is hypothetical) should ask the ginger demon why Ukraine is only getting $800 million in arms when it was just fine to give the Taliban $28 billion in arms.
I’d love to see her struggle with that.

Yes you are correct. Oddly we had the ability to win in Vietnam but did not. We did not due to fear of the USSR and China escalating into thermonuclear war. When one goes to war go to war or stay home. That was President Johnson’s doing. He was a fool.
China’s nuclear arsenal at the time was limited and of no importance. The USSR’s nuclear arsenal was robust and capable of destroying us as ours was capable of destroying the USSR many times over for both sides. That is a stalemate. Russia wished not to die nor we wished to die. Neither side would have launched over the Vietnam War.
The same logic applies to the Ukraine today. Russia nor we wish nuclear warfare nor even conventional warfare between NATO and Russia. If we do a no fly zone over the Ukraine, Russia will not attack NATO with conventional weapons, as they would lose as demonstrated in the Ukraine. The Russian Army is huge but apparently inept. They will not attack NATO with nukes as both sides lose. Putin is an evil man but he is oddly a patriot and not insane.
Back in the 70s (I am old) the “think tanks” Rand Institute and the Brooking Institute did theoretical war games in Europe. The Rand is quite liberal and the Brooking is quite conservative. Both came to the same conclusion of conventional warfare between NATO and the USSR. One side or the other would be decidedly losing and then use tactical nukes quickly followed by the other side. Regardless of which side was winning or losing it quickly became intercontinental thermonuclear war.
Point being is this. Russia and NATO can combat each other in the Ukraine. It will not go thermonuclear. If it is a war of aggression between NATO and Russia it will go thermonuclear.
ps
I am not advocating American Pilots in a no fly zone. I am not advocating that it not be done. This is just my analysis.
When one chooses war it must be done most carefully and only in your long term national interest, and most definitely not short term interest. If not, you are wasting treasure and blood of young men and women.
