When I first heard Putin would send Syrians to Ukraine, I said Oh Shxx. Then I remembered there are a lot of aniti- Assad, and therefore anit-Russia Syrians. Also I imagine that there are Muslim fighters in the Stans that can see the likelihood of a greedy Putin trying to pull them back into the old Soviet alignment. So interesting to see what might result from this cleric’s “permission.”
Some people question how Putin is going to recruit Syrians promising decent pay (in dollars.) since Russia is under severe economic sanction. But there could be a way. Putin can tell them if they win the war, Syrians can settle in Ukraine taking whatever properties left behind by Ukrainian refugees. That is, spoils of war. Of course, the cleric will be doubly ecstatic.
