Not only is daylight saving time (DST) a burden to many Americans, but scientists are now saying it could have negative long-term consequences on the human brain.

I’m trying to give my fellow Americans the benefit of the doubt. But quotes like that make me wonder if Brandon was elected with the majority of the vote.
The point of moving the clock one half hour ahead permanently is lost upon me. The original rationalization for “Daylight Saving Time” was for factory workers, whose shift ended at four PM, would have time to get home and work in their home garden plots for an extra hour before dark. This pretty much went away with flextime, and even more so in regards to remote working schedules.
Making it “year around” is even more bizarre, as during the month of December, school children boarding school buses would have to be ready two hours, or more, before the sun rises in the morning. This very scheme of making DST year around was tried back during the Jimmy Carter administration, and it was quickly abandoned after only one season, if I recall correctly.
But for Democrats, bad ideas never go away.....
I would bet real money that if Trumps runs in 2024 against Harris, if Harris promised to get rid of DST there would many Freepers would vote for her.
It certainly would make more sense.
Which is probably why Congress isn’t even considering it.
Next we will tackle the dangers of traveling too far East or West.
It’s the “Look squirrel!” syndrome.
“We’ll get an extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow.”
I once read of someone advocating moving the extra day in Leap Year to June so we'd have one more day of summer instead of one more day of winter.
It shows that it is logistically possible.
Yeah, it’s like all the millions falling over dead when they drive/fly to a different time zone. Millions, I tell you. Every day.
It is the twice a year change that is detrimental to us. Let’s stop changing the clocks!
Gee whiz... I wonder then how come we don’t see a difference in animals or humans where they get 24 hours a day of sunlight(seasonal) and where the northern lights are frequent... Light polution neear major cities etc...
As I stated on another thread peddling this crap. I’d bet all I own that the time it took to read this thread took more time off my life span than sleeping with a light on
I think I can beat that. I was once standing at the edge of Niagara Falls (Canadian side) watching water pouring over the falls. Some guy next to me commented "What a waste of water".
The thing that amazed me the most about that vote was that it was unanimous! Has there ever been a unanimous vote since Washington was elected President?
I’d prefer if they randomly added or subtracted anywhere from 3 to 17 minutes every day.
And every state and county had their own random adjustment.
Civilization might have been better off when there were no clocks. After all, navigation brought those pesky Vikings.
My dad always told customers he worked “Dark-Thirty to Dark-Thirty.” The clock had no stay in that deal.
Maybe some trolls, but not real FReepers...
Mandating a shift of the hour hand of everybody’s clock is unnatural. I’m glad this twice-a-year exercise in delusion will end.
I do. I suffer from extreme Seasonal Affected Depression and the longer daylight lasts into the evening the BETTER I feel. I actually feel a mood change for the BETTER when we switch to Daylight Savings Time each other and just the OPPOSITE when we go from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time each autumn.
Time is a lie, lunchtime doubly so…
