At an auto repair shop in Kyiv, mechanics used to working on car engines are instead applying their skills to heavy weaponry captured from Russian armoured vehicles. They are converting them into handheld weapons that can be used by Ukrainian troops.

Wait what ?!?
The leadin makes no sense.
Why would you convert a heavy weapon into a ‘hand held weapon’ ?!?
Especially mechanics !
Now if they are making technicals - mounting machine guns on trucks - that would make sense.
I saw this, what he needs is some of those 2nd desktop CNC machines so he can make some replacements for damaged parts.
If they’re pulling remote operated machine guns and coaxial guns off apc’s and tanks, that would make sense. Need triggers and sights and some kind of support (bipods, tripods).
Road tolls will be high going into Kiev.
I watched this report, the reporter ignorance ... many of the weapons are being converted into man portable fixed point defense emplacement weapons.
In other words, no plan for them to be firing these from their hips.
Ian McCollum at ForgottenWeapons.com did a video on this.
I admire them for their creativity!
I saw this and was absolutely astounded that they would show the peoples faces and give their names. How long would it take them to figure out where that shop is and launch a cruise missile? I don’t understand. They must be planning to catch one in a net and shoot it back at the Russians.
Do technicals have a place when your enemy has real armored vehicles available?
“Russia is in for a hellav fight”
I would tend to agree with that if POTUS Trump was in the Whitehouse......alas...
If your technical carries 3 or 4 NLAWs you can take on tanks in a city environment. ATGM team dismounts, fires from cover, remounts, moves. Just don’t get seen.
“Do technicals have a place when your enemy has real armored vehicles available?”
Yes. All those supply columns are made up of soft skin trucks.
A technical can dash in, shoot up a few trucks, and run. Go a few miles down the road, wash, rinse, repeat.
Technicals make sense in a place like Somalia. But when your opponent has tanks and APCs, not so much.
necessity, is the mother of all inventions...
Take tanks into a city? Didn’t the Russians learn anything? A Panzer Faust in every window and hidden among every pile of rubble? Grampas and Kids taking on tanks.
Hopefully they engaged in a little bit of location misinformation, that being said...that city is huge and the Russians don’t seem to be able to aim their weapons..I think the majority of the war crimes are a combination of poor training and zero combat discipline. They waste ammo shooting empty buildings
It doesn’t make sense.
Just repair captured tanks, paint Ukrainian flags on the sides and point them east.
Why would you want to take on that logistic load if lighter tactics are working?
If the tanks are operational, that's fine. What they are talking about is salvaging operable weapons from busted tanks and other vehicles and turning vehicle mounted weapons into crew served weapons. I'm sure most of what these guys are doing are doing is probably welding on tripods, altering fire control mechanisms, etc.
