Here’s one deprivation the Russian people probably weren’t expecting.
American drugmaker Eli Lilly has decided to halt export of all non-essential drugs to Russia, including its blockbuster erectile dysfunction drug, Cialis.
The drugmaker told the FT that while it would continue to supply drugs for life-threatening illnesses, it will suspend all marketing, drug trials and investment in Russia, along with all non-essential meds, which they will no longer export.
This marks the first time a US drugmaker has decided to pull its business from Russia since the start of the invasion of Ukraine.
“For nearly 150 years, Lilly has worked to ensure patients have access to the medicines they need, no matter where they may live,” it said in a statement. “Our Russian operations are now only focused on ensuring people suffering from diseases like cancer and diabetes continue to get the Lilly medicines they need.”
Meanwhile, Pfizer said this week that pausing the flow of its medicines to Russia would violate the company’s foundational principle of “putting patients first” (which…is that what they have been doing with all those price hikes?).
The export of medicine and the materials necessary for making drugs and medical equipment were excluded from the sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and Europe.
Reminds me that we get (what?) 93% of our drugs from china.
Imagine when China begins withholding ANY drug from the US market. What will we do then?
Make it here?
Is this a joke?
They are going to “punish” the Russians by suspending sales of erectile dysfunction drugs?
This is going to make Putin and the Russians chortle with laughter.
Eli Lilly is one really sick, deranged company.
So are Pepsi and McDonald’s, both made in excess of 10% of their revenue in Russia.
As for Visa and MasterCard their stocks collapsed to the bottom after they suspended the Russian operations.
Disagree with the globalist agenda and this could be you. Covid gave them power, and a Republican prez consented to it. Then 80% of the population obeyed their edicts on everything trump presided over, masking, restricting travel..
This is just the warm up act. It gets darker folks. Much darker.
There in leaves the National security file ....wide open as to anything that would hinder our Republics protection.....always make at home.
If we are lucky, that will happen to all the very woke, evil US companies. And much worse.
Yep, if they are able to cancel one group, they can do another as well.
It is not impossible to get their formulas and reproduce at a fraction of cost. Then flood the third world with generics and starve the original companies.
All this does is hurt the Russian people. It’s ridiculous. It’s virtue signaling.
Because Big Pharma is so moral.
Drip, drip, drip
We now live in a global corporatocracy.
Welcome to the New World Order
VISA and MC should see another drop in their stock as the fed increases interest rates. The credit card companies charge usury interest rates for outstanding balances, while the stocks pay puny dividends. Retail merchants are annoyed by the high transaction fees too.
The same people who brought us covid and the clot shot.
Agreed, I’ve said that for many years now. Most of food our food isn’t even from US anymore as well as medications/medical supplies. What are odds Covid vaccine is made here though?
The West’s attempt to “cancel” Russia is laughable.
The net effect will be to cancel profits of companies withdrawing from Russia.
How do you cancel a country with resources the world desperately needs?
How do you cancel a country with large gold reserves?
How do you cancel a country being supplied with manufactured goods from China which is NOT boycotting Russia?
Russia helps feed the world. They are a major supplier of agricultural fertilizers. They have a surplus of oil and natural gas. They have strategic minerals.
The Russian people won’t starve or freeze in winter. Unfortunately, the attempt to cancel Russia may well kill millions elsewhere in the world via starvation as Russian grain and fertilizer exports cease.
