Putin's forces may only be able to keep up the fight for another 14 days, defence sources say as increasingly-desperate invaders launch more devastating strikes on Kyiv this morning

Russian forces may only be able to sustain full fighting capacity for another 'ten to 14' days, senior UK defence sources indicated last night, after which Putin's men will struggle to hold the ground they have already captured from Ukrainian troops.

UK defence sources say that Kyiv has Moscow 'on the run' and the Russian army could be just two weeks from 'culmination point' - after which 'the strength of Ukraine's resistance should become greater than Russia's attacking force.' Advances across Ukraine have already stopped as Moscow's manpower runs short.

-snip-

as Russia's invasion falters, its methods become more brutal - with cities increasingly coming under indiscriminate rocket fire. Kyiv, the capital, suffered another round of bombing on Tuesday morning as apartment blocks were set on fire by early-hours strikes, though there was no immediate figure on casualties.

Ukraine's military said four Russian helicopters, a jet, and a cruise missile were shot down by its forces which remained in control of all major cities - including the badly-hit southern port of Mariupol.

Putin's stuttering invasion has forced even his close allies to admit, publicly, that things are not going to plan.

I don’t think there is a clear good guy or a clear bad guy in all this. It’s so difficult to get anything close to truthful information.

The real victims are the Ukrainian people. What’s being done to them is tragic, and that definitely shows Putin to be more bad than good.

Two weeks to slow the spread. Where have I heard that before?

Yeah, no concern over biolabs, or Ukraine being a US puppet, or the threat of NATO missiles in Ukraine.

The US put a blockade in place and threatened war with Russia over missiles in Cuba.

Your thinking is too one dimensional.

Honestly at the beginning I thought all this was media driven anti-Russian propaganda, that Russia would take Ukraine in a week or two, the media would portray the Ukrainian fighters as plucky hero's who punched above their weight but in the end collapsed to the far larger Russian army....

But I'm starting to thing the Russian military really IS that terrible. Looking at the unbiased battle maps, Russia hasn't really been able to take anything since the couple southern cities they grabbed the first week and have even been pushed out of several smaller cities they had taken. In fact at one point they nearly had Kyiv surrounded and now the Ukrainians have pretty much pushed them out of the entire North Western and Eastern sides. Now the Russians have pretty much given up ground assaults altogether and are just randomly shelling cities with artillery. Not to mention the "mighty" Russian army resorting to bringing in Syrian mercenaries and begging China for assistance.

If this is the best Russia can do, I don't think Europe needs to worry too much...

These people are delusional.

I’m no authority, in fact, I know nothing, but I do know that Putin will stop at nothing to achieve his end goal which is clearly to:

1. Keep Ukraine from Nato.
2. Have Crimea and Odessa recognized as Russian
3. Eastern territories declared independent

Anyone, abs I do mean anyone who thinks they are hearing anything truthful about what’s going on in this is a fool.

All you are hearing is spin and propaganda from one side or the other..

Abs most of it can’t pass the most basic smell test.

I continue to be amazed that Joe Biden stands idly by, while Putin continues a full-scale military assault against a civilian target in a country where the US supposedly had a supportive relationship.

Sanctions do not do anything against the short-term horrific damage of a military assault against a civilian center.

America looks weak and scared of Russia in the whole affair.

How many people must die because this Crime Family codger remains deluded under the thumb of Marxists committed to destruction of the USA also?

The morale of the Russian troops may be terrible with respect to this particular war. Many don’t want to be involved in this action.

They started saying saying the same thing two weeks ago. The deep staters are like the climate alarmist liars. When one lie catches up to them, they simply tell another and expect that no one notices.

Yeah, no concern over biolabs,
***Russia didn’t even MENTION biolabs when they invaded. So yeah, no concern over it.

or Ukraine being a US puppet,
***If they’re a US puppet then where are the US soldiers fighting against the invader?

or the threat of NATO missiles in Ukraine.
***Wait a second. Estonia has been in NATO for a lot longer, and there aint no worries about missiles from there. But Vlad the Impaler didn’t impale Estonia because they were already IN NATO. And Ukraine in good faith gave up their nukes in exchange for territorial, border, and sovereignty “assurances” that we are promptly abrogating. https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4044080/posts

The US put a blockade in place and threatened war with Russia over missiles in Cuba.
***Yeah, we did. And Russia backed down because Russia was in the wrong for putting those missiles into Cuba and we had very strong strategic superiority at the time. Russia didn’t invade due to missile threats, Russia invaded because they’re raping the land of its oil.

Russia wouldn’t even be all that interested except that oil was discovered in those regions. Russia gets 60% of its revenues from oil exports. Europe gets 40% of their oil from Russia.

In 2012 massive oil and gas reserves were found in Crimea. Crimea signed a $10 billion exploration contracts with Shell and Chevron to develop the new found oil and gas fields. These oil and gas products would compete in Europe with Russia’s oil and gas, reducing Russia’s oil revenues, which we recall amount to 60% of their total GDP. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, cancelling the contracts with Shell and Chevron.

But Ukraine still had massive reserves in, you guessed it, Donetsk and Luhansk, and other areas East of the Dnieper River. In 2019, Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine, and soon after Ukraine awarded exploration contracts to a consortium of U.S. oil companies. Again, these oil reserves would compete in Europe with Russian oil, so Putin is invading Ukraine to shut down this latest attempt to extract Ukrainian oil and sell it in competition with Russian oil.

This explanation makes more sense to me than the “Putin feels threatened by NATO expansion” excuses for the invasion.
