The die was cast when LTG (Ret) Jay Garner was fired from his job as head of Iraq Reconstruction after a month on the job.
His crime? He stated publicly that he "wanted to turn the country back over to Iraqis as soon as possible...it's their country."
General Garner was a great leader of men. I knew him when he commanded one of the battalions in 108th ADA Group in Germany. Lizzie's dad was pulling those strings behind the scenes.
