His district was reliably Republican until just a few years ago. Unfortunately Republicans who for decades had a firm grip on running Somerset County, never met a developer they did not like and with the thousands of new homes and businesses built there in the last 15 years came thousands of transplants from eastern NJ and NY who make a lot of money but are reliably democrat. The Republicans in Somerset gladly paved the way for their own political extinction.
