The mayor of Odesssa said on Friday Russian forces could soon surround his southern Ukrainian port city on three fronts.
Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov suggested Russian forces would seek to advance from territories they have occupied in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region towards Moldova's separatist-controlled Transdniestria region, where Russian troops are based. Such a move could cut Odessa off from the rest of Ukraine.
"Also, we think that while this is happening, Russian landing ships could surround us from the sea,"

Let me introduce you to the Russian Aist and Zhubr class landing craft.

They’re hovercraft like our LCACs, so they don’t have to sail up to beaches like conventional landing craft. They can also drive straight up a sufficiently large boat ramp or tourist beach that shallows too far out to be useful, among other places.

Already one Ukrainian town of 100,000 people has been wiped off the earth by Putinst Russia. Not single inhabitable structure left according to reports. I’m sure they will blame the Ukrainians, though. How dare they defend themselves from “liberation.”

I know some towns and villages are getting clobbered, but I had not heard of a town of that size being wiped out. Is it in the east? Do you know the name of the town?
Yup, or at least hide them. They were effective without being cemented against early WW2 tanks and prior, but against later tanks less so as a tank could shove them aside if they weren’t cemented or otherwise made immovable. As it is, a T-72B with the urban warfare bulldozer blade can just push those out of the way.

The problem for the Russians is that they need to also attack Odessa from the east and they can’t even take Mykolaiv.
And the troops in the west in Transexual Transylvania near Moldova are scrubs and won’t be much help.
So that forces Russia to try to take Odessa almost 100% by a sea landing and they need to do it in the next 2 days while the weather is favorable. And Odessa has had almost 3 weeks to prepare their defenses.
