We have electricity, gas, water, the communal services are working," said Oleksandr Yakovlev, mayor of Skadovsk. "People and volunteers have organized themselves into associations to prevent looting. We can only contact the central state power authorities by phone. But how can they help us now?". "There are big problems with logistics. People can't pick up their pensions at the post office, because no money has been delivered." Skadovsk is located some 30 kilometers (about 18 miles) from the administrative border with Russian-occupied Crimea, and 100 kilometers from Kherson. Unlike other parts of the country, Skadovsk hasn't really seen any fighting. It was besieged in the first hours after the initial attack on February 24 by Russian troops, who immediately set up checkpoints everywhere, said Yakovlev. "People are being let through, but their cars and identity papers are checked. Civilian vehicles have also come under fire, and there have been victims. Yesterday, they shot at an ambulance, but there were no casualties," said the mayor. On the morning of March 9, Russian armored vehicles drove directly into the city and positioned themselves in front of the city hall, but did nothing else. 'There is no one to talk to' Both mayors said they hadn't been contacted by the Russian military, which had not made any demands. They suspected that the soldiers themselves did not know what to do with the occupied territories. In any case, said the mayors, the Russian troops had not been received with flowers by the locals, as Russia's top leaders had expected. Volodymyr Kovalenko, the mayor of Nova Kakhovka, has set up a temporary office in a municipal utility building because the town hall has been occupied by the Russians, who are using it as their headquarters. Kovalenko said they had appointed an administrator, and imposed a curfew.
Regards,
Cute.
If you are so anti war you should persuade stuputin to withdraw his war criminals.
Nothing ‘cute’ about it and I’m not anti-war. You’re assuming that. Of course I hate what war does to countries and people....unfortunately there are times it happens.
Bandera: Ukrainian Hitler
Indeed.

My entire family male members have served in the military for generations - we are a military family ,,,,
My respects to those of your family who have served.
Apparently you are not in their ranks?
Ok
I am from a military family. My father fought in New Guinea, Borneo and served with the BCOFc in Hiroshima in early 1946. He was blinded in his left eye by shrapnel. His father served in the Middle East in WW1. He was in the in the 12th regiment of the famous Light Horse and took part in the attack on Beersheba in 1917. I still have a leather shin plate legging from his left leg with a turkish bullet hole. As a lad I recall him limping. My grandfather on my mothers side fought at Passchendaele in Belgium in 1917. He too was blinded in his left eye and lost an ear. I never new him as he died before I was born. My brother was conscriptd by lottery for the army in early 1971 but neve fought in Vietnam. I am of the generation that has been mercifully spared war. Too young for Vietnam. Too old for later wars involving Aussies. War is a necessary evil at times, but is not a good thing
Quite a History there!
I am their mother.

Won’t be the first time on FR I’ve been assumed to be a guy. But I assure you I am fully a gal.
Thank you very much unclebankster: I appreciate it.
Armand de Plessis, 'duc de Richelieu et de Fronsac'.
He cut sales taxes and established (or tried to establish) a 'free economic zone'.
An impressive and much loved man - I'm glad his statue is protected.
Consider the source...
Funny, the same Russian Trolls and useful idiot Liberaltarians Putin Appeasers who said this was a military training exercise...
...now claim Putin won’t occupy. Well, he doesn’t have the option to occupy as the Russians will face a long insurgency and many more losses.
Putin has no endgame. Russia will get their azzes handed to them in any scenario. And when they leave, it will be a rough ride out.
My father also served in New Guinea and the invasion of Luzon.
He was on the beach with Macarthur the day he said
I have returned
He came home from Luzon on a hospital ship after being shot in both the head and abdomen. Spent six weeks in the hospital.
