Deutsche Bank said on Friday that it would wind down its business in Russia.

Deutsche had faced stinging criticism from some investors and politicians on Friday for its ongoing ties to Russia after saying that leaving would go against its values, as other banks cut off ties.

"Like some international peers and in line with our legal and regulatory obligations, we are in the process of winding down our remaining business in Russia while we help our non-Russian multinational clients in reducing their operations," the bank said on Friday.

Have we or any nation declared war on Russia?!

Who’s pulling the strings here?!

NONE of this is legal or prudent.

Simple enough...do not invade countries. Mad dog killer, Putin needs to pull his murderous savages out of Ukraine. Novel idea eh?

All things Russian have suddenly become radioactive, and are being shunned with superstitious dread. Bleating sheep though they may be, the growing cohort of those condemning Russia and Vladimir Putin for every woe in the world seem to be a great moral force, but they are fools and easily misled in seeking a scapegoat for failures that lie elsewhere.

For sure, Western Europe should never have become so reliant on the good graces of the Russian Federation for such a large proportion of the means to meet their energy needs as they have. It is a trap of their own making, first for failing to diversify their sources, and secondly for making the wrong choices as a primary source for baseline power generation. If any country could make use of “clean coal” as the source of power, Germany certainly had plenty of experience in terms of gasification of coal, of which there are still large supplies still unmined throughout much of Europe, though they are not well endowed with either petroleum or natural gas. Nuclear energy is by far the closest to “zero-emission” power generation yet achieved by human endeavor, yet that was written off as “too dangerous”, and the capability of these atomic power plants is being shut down. Wind power and solar power collection is just too unreliable to be used for any kind of baseline power in any location where these forms are used.

And now much of Europe is held hostage, unable to act in their own behalf, to cast off the chains they have laid upon themselves. Starving and soon to be freezing in the dark.
