Biden 'personally killed Polish jet deal' despite Republican AND Democrats ramping up calls to give Ukraine combat planes to make Putin 'fearful of what WE might do'
The Daily Mail ^ | 03/10/2022 | Morgan Phillips

Despite desperate please from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and pressure from lawmakers at home, President Biden killed the Polish plan to transfer MiG-29 jets to Ukraine, fearing the deal might be viewed as an escalation of tensions by Vladimir Putin.

The diplomatic blunder that began with a top European Union diplomat promising the jets to Ukraine ended when Poland suggested it would give the jets to the U.S. to deliver to Ukraine, and the U.S. said that was Poland's responsibility.

Then, U.S. defense officials killed the project entirely, saying they would not support either transferring the jets themselves or backing up Poland in doing so.

'We do not support the transfer of the fighters to the Ukrainian air force at this time and have no desire to see them in our custody either,' Press secretary John Kirby told reporters Wednesday, as he described the sentiment of a call between Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin and his Polish counterpart.

*** Ukraine currently has between 37 and 70 MiG-29s. *** 'POTUS will do what the military advises here and the advice now is not to do this and instead send the Ukrainian government more things they can make good use of,' a senior administration official told Politico. Ukraine has 'many planes they already don't fly much because of Russian air defense.' The official added that it's 'not clear what sending more planes achieves.'

However, both Republicans and Democrats called on the Biden administration to heed Zelensky's calls for more aircraft.

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said it was time to make Putin 'fearful.'

'It's time for Putin to be fearful of what we might do. This is war. People are dying. We need to get aircraft to President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine immediately,' he wrote on Twitter. ***

In the meantime Biden himself killed a whole quart of ice cream.

And a whole case of Huggies.

Was it a Republican who “green lighted” the deal?

Proving that Republicans are almost as useless and anti-American as Dems.

The only real impediment is training the Ukrainian pilots and shipping aircraft to Poland to backfill the hole.

If you think the "threat" of nuclear war is the impediment, you're just teaching the Russians to threaten it more often, which will in fact increase the chances of one occurring.

The proper response to Russian mouthings about nuclear war is publication of our target list and a free copy of Dr. Strangelove, with a reminder that for us it's a comedy.

Then offer to work on their healthcare system.

No surprise. Since Bare Shelves Biden went to DC in 1972 he has been on the side of US enemies, and against US Allies, on every single foreign policy issue.

Who was that said Biden has been wrong on every foreign policy issue for the last forty years?

Biden gave Putin the green light to invade Ukraine. What he “got” for it is anyone's guess.

I would guess he got Putin's promise to “help with the Iran deal”.

A deal that highly favors the Iranians. How much input did Valerie Jarrett have into it I wonder?!

My guess as to what he got for is the Russians would keep all the dirt they have on Biden buried.

Now Biden is worried that if Ukraine wins that the dirt the Ukrainians have on him will come to light

“we’ll never know why”

FR thread a few days ago mentioned that Putin stated that countries giving war materials to Ukraine would be enemy combatants.

My guess is that Poland did not want to poke Putin by directly giving the jets to the Ukraines.

Russian S-300 and S-400, Buk, and Pansir systems pretty much make it a no fly zone, forcing UAF down to tree top levels making them vulnerable to manpads.

There are better options they say. What I don’t know but I’m no expert.

Why does it need to be the U.S.?
Why can’t Poland use another NATO and/or EU partner as a proxy? Or, better yet, provide them directly?

The Pentagon killed it because they didn’t think existential war with Russia was a good idea. Do you?

The Pentagon may have made a recommendation but of course the buck stops with the president, and in this case that's Biden and his handlers.

If you like the decision, then give Biden credit. I you don't like the decision, then criticize Biden.

“If you think the “threat” of nuclear war is the impediment, you’re just teaching the Russians to threaten it more often, which will in fact increase the chances of one occurring.”

I’m pretty sure the Russians don’t care what I think.

Or you.

But you should ask yourself the question: Why has the US gone to great effort and sacrifice to avoid direct conflict with flagged Russian forces...for 75years?

If you were educated on the matter you’d know why the Pentagon nixed this deal.

But you’re not.

Poland can fly those planes themselves and leave them on some airstrip in Romania or Moldova for Ukraine

Romania is a NATO country; Moldova is a neutral country; Transnistria is Russian controlled
