Precisely! That is why the oil companies hold 9,000 onshore drilling permits that they aren’t using.
Too risky ... politically.

what is the clinical term for this? it was mentioned on another recent thread concerning harris or psaki, i believe.

“This negative supply shock will be inflationary until technological progress absorbs these costs.”
That assumes that the costs stay stable. Leftists are very well known for constantly moving the goal posts against business and free enterprise, so the assumption that these costs will remain stable is a joke. The perfect example is gas taxes, which in certain states (California, for one) literally go up every single year. Does anyone seriously believe that these America-hating morons will allow technological progress to fill the pockets of the oil industry?

We need a petroleum engineer to come on here and tell us why shale oil isn’t good for making diesel, which the Russian and Canadian tar sands were perfect for.

Energy companies (and their lenders) now treat US and Western Europe investments like those in third world countries—totally unreliable because the politics can change on a dime.
There is no way to have long term investment planning in that type of environment.

Environmental, Social, and Governance Criteria (ESG) is the latest ploy by the Marxists to ram their agenda into corporate boardrooms. It has been very successful.
From Investopedia:
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria are a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments. Environmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature...
- Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria are an increasingly popular way for investors to evaluate companies in which they might want to invest.
- Many mutual funds, brokerage firms, and robo-advisors now offer products that employ ESG criteria.
- ESG criteria can also help investors avoid companies that might pose a greater financial risk due to their environmental or other practices.
Due to investor pressure, Exxon and other oil companies are adding ESG-endorsed enviro-whackos to their company boards, which is causing them to reduce and stop new oil exploration.

how is sand needed for shale oil production Fracking wells are created with trainloads of sand. I think it's injected into the shale to create a space for the oil to flow.
