It hasn’t changed since Usenet back in the early 1990s.
One silly assumption they make is to believe that everyone is actually bothered by insults. (I do have low thresholds for nonsense and stupidity, though...)
The insults to me are comical. I’ve had so much worse happen to me over the years than having some schoolyard insults tossed my way.
But the insults themselves turn out to be useful information in sorting out the troll accounts so I don’t complain when they come my way.
