Yale professor lists companies not boycotting Russia: McDonald’s, Starbucks and Coca-Cola

Among executives, board members, analysts and others in the business world in recent days, a “who’s who” list has been floating around, showing which companies have pulled out of Russia amid its attack on Ukraine — and which ones have stayed put.

The spreadsheet, compiled by Yale University professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld and his research team, has become a naughty-or-nice list of sorts, with CEOs trying their best to avoid being placed on the roster of “Companies That Remain in Russia With Significant Exposure.”

Sonnenfeld, who founded the nonprofit Chief Executive Leadership Institute, said he has fielded calls from CEOs asking “why we didn’t have them on the right list, and what they needed to do to either clarify or actually take a more strong stance.” ...

I am sort of waffling on this, myself.

The media is sort of flipped out, Biden too.

Sort of 50/50 myself.

Whatever happened to the bleeding heart leftists from the Iraq war who demanded that companies keep supporting the Iraqi people because they’re the ones really being hurt?

Now it’s all jingoism and fascism from the left and it’s not even OUR war!!!

I don’t necessarily have a problem with them not boycotting, but believe me I’ll remember this next time they jump on some woke leftist cause here in the U.S. (e.g., like Coke regularly does in Georgia).

Jeffrey Sonnenfeld is a professor at Yale University, the same university that failed to disclose hundreds of millions in gifts and contracts from China and Saudi Arabia so it wouldn't count against them when receiving taxpayer money.

https://americanmilitarynews.com/2020/02/harvard-yale-under-investigation-for-375-million-secret-funding-from-china-saudi-arabia/

This same thieving university is going to ask for boycotts?

To be honest, I can understand why they are balking at this.

I don’t know how many McDonalds restaurants they have inside Russia, or how many Coke bottling plants, but if I’m on the board and someone brings up a plan to “boycott Russia”, my first question is whether Putin is going to seize all of our assets, or worse, as a response. I recognize how weak and pathetic this may sound, but my job is to my stock holders and stake-holders, and for all we know there could be a peace agreement within days or weeks. Then where will we be?

/devil’s advocate

Is it not the same Washington Post that illegally published a list of those who had contributed money to the Canadian truckers, for the sole purpose of getting them terrorized by far left crazies?
A list that was illegally obtained through hacking?
Why continue to post propaganda from the notorious Washington Post?

...and they are not weak and pathetic I guess.
So let’s see what Russia does.

Gleb Bazov (twitter @Gbazov) just now tweeted that McDonalds is apparently freeing all 850 Russian McDonalds, from paying their royalties.

(I think)

No word whether this is temporary. Or even could be I am simply misinterpretting things. :)

But just received a tweet on this, not two minutes after posting the original post.

To force someone to boycott is not freedom of expression.
Each company, or individual, has the right to make their own call.

Just you wait ‘till these morally phony professor types start making lists of domestic small businesses and companies they don't think are woke enough.

These people are facist-type scary.

“Now it’s all jingoism and fascism from the left and it’s not even OUR war!!!”

Of course. Just like “tolerance”. It only matters when it favors their political stance. Then again, most leftists are mindless drones and go along with whatever they’re told.

Modern leftists lack morals, ethics, common sense or critical thinking skills.
But are overflowing with rabid emotions and feelings.

I am sort of waffling on this, myself.

I hear ya. When I see “Yale professor,” I automatically want to go the other way.

Putin needs to be held accountable, but how much does Starbucks, Coca Cola and McDonald’s shutting their stores in Russia hurt Putin? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Actually, Biden just forced McDonald’s to leave. I do not approve of private corporations being used by politicians.
