Russian state television host Dmitry Kiselyov opened his Sunday primetime show with an ominous allusion to nuclear war.
The comments came just hours after President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian army to put its nuclear arsenal, the world's largest, on “high alert” in response to what he called "unfriendly" steps by the West.
“Our submarines are capable of launching over 500 nuclear warheads, which guarantees the destruction of the U.S. and all NATO countries,” Kiselyov said on his weekly program, “Vesti Nedeli.”
“Why do we need a world if Russia is not in it?”

The world would not miss Russia. Not one bit.
Russia hasn’t exactly been a force for human advancement over the last 150 years... More like the opposite.
The Joy Reid of Russia ?
Uh....
come again?
The world would be better off if we got rid of most of the governments.
Take Germany too.
Homeland of Karl Marx.
Hitler’s minions said the same thing.
Karl Marx did most of his writing while living a well-funded bohemian lifestyle in London, even as his family was nearly starving in Paris.
My FRiend.
Russia has been on my shttlist for a long, long time.
Deep State everywhere would miss Russia.
Why do we need a world without the kleptocratic police state that gave us Stalin, the KGB, Castro? It must be defended at that cost of nuclear holocaust says state sponsored TV.
This is ancient news. Everyone’s over Russia threatening to throw a hissy fit and nuke everyone.
Isn’t that the truth?
I was just thinking not an hour ago about how the current U.S. government has thoroughly f*$ked everything up and how much better off we’d be without that corrupt organization.
I’d rather have a world with Russia than one ruled by technocrats in DC, Eurocrats in Brussels, and Western oligarchs in Davos.
Especially Hillary.
It’s a stupid question. Russia is not only a part of the world, but the single largest country in it. Nothing that happens in Ukraine can change Russia being “in” the world.
If Putin wants to be super villainy and scary he’ll have to threaten to take over the world and make everyone wear a mask.
“They” in this case is the Russians themselves.
