Poland “does not envisage” sending fighter jets to Ukraine despite Blinken remarks
Notes from Poland ^ | 3/7/22

Two senior Polish officials have today denied that Poland is planning to provide fighter jets to Ukraine. Their remarks come after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said yesterday that talks over such an arrangement were ongoing and that Washington had given Poland the “green light”.

“Our government has already stated that we do not envisage a handover [of the fighters],” Paweł Soloch, head of Poland’s National Security Bureau (BBN), told TVN24.

I suspect the plan is that the U.S. will trade or buy the Soviet MiGs from Poland, and then give them to Ukraine. Poland will not admit that those jets went to Ukraine from Poland.

Poland is looking for a super deal on F-35’s and better equipment imo. No way would they give up hardware without something to stand against an angry Russia.

“Not gonna do it.”

Poland’s been through enough historically, so I doubt they want another war.

Glad someone is looking at the possible repercussions and showing some sense.

Sensible Poland.
They still remember the last time Russia invaded Poland in WW 2.
Dementia Joe doesn’t.

Poland wanted this to be a NATO level deal and lead from behind Brandon shot it down. Brandon’s handlers want Putin’s help with Iran and do not want to give Ukraine anything more than man portable weapons.

Poland is ready to do it. Brandon is blocking it. Poland wants NATO top cover on the deal because this is obviously an escalation in support for Ukraine.

It appears NATO countries are getting a bit wary of the Biden administration.

How about spare parts? I’d imagine their are more than a few planes being maintained with spare parts from the old Warsaw pact warehouses.

LOL. You couldn’t be any more uninformed if you tried. A dozen NATO planes arrive in Poland daily with arms for Ukraine.

Brandon is blocking this particular deal because he wants Russian help with the Iran deal. Birds of a feather flock together I guess.

Poland’s problem is handing over MIGs to Zelensky and the next day Zelensky caves to Putin and all, of a sudden, Poland is looking at Putin as its next door neighbor with their MIGs now part of Putin’s air force to use if he decides to invade Poland

Reminds me of that British general who told Wesley Clarke I’m not going to start WW-III for you.

Poland is very much aware that they are the front line against Russia and Belarus. Poland won't do anything which could provoke a Russian attack which NATO won't respond because Poland is engaging in hostilities against Russia in Urkraine. Ultimately, the Ukrainian solution may well be a stronger relationship between Poland and Ukraine, something like a modernization of the old Commonwealth to defend against Russia, perhaps with nuclear weapons. For now, Poland is toeing the NATO line.

Why would they want bomb trucks? They already have some. F-16s make far better sense and match ups against SU-35Ss

Actually, it was Poland, Estonia and other eastern NATO countries that led here because they are the ones who best understand the threat of murderous Putinism. They delivered arms to Ukraine outside the NATO mechanisms that Germany and Brandon were blocking. Then later came Germany and finally Brandon’s handlers coming up in the rear.
