Russian news director and anchor, Ekaterina Kotrikadze, speaks to CNN's Fareed Zakaria about the state of the country's news media after her station, TV Rain, shut down due to the Russian government's crackdown on local media over unfavorable coverage of the war in Ukraine.
Million more outside Russia think the same
The invasion is bad enough. It is the western response that’s turning it into a catastrophe.
Just about as credible as western media.
I just don’t know why they didn’t comply and make a disclaimer everytime.
Special Military Action .... per Russian Government Instructions we may not refer to it as a War.
“Ekaterina Kotrikadze, speaks to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria”. of course.
as with covid before the 2020 presidential election, DS has done a great job of dividing Republicans before the mid-terms with their latest hysteria-inducing, all-consuming topic - Ukraine.
What a lucky coincidence that what she had to say just happened to fit CNN’s narrative!
Yep. Gulag for Ekaterina.
Outside of a faction at FR, I don’t see much division among Republicans over Ukraine.
CNN propaganda. How convenient.
If its on CNN, I’m not wasting my time.
Very obtuse of you.
Understood. I still like to have some idea of what they’re saying.
Let’s trust it, yes, that’s good.
I mean, what do you say to the Russian people or even the higher echelons of govt and military, if you’re Vlad Putin?
My fellow citizens, I am very concerned that there are neo-Nazis doing bad things in Ukraine. So my response is to go in there and take the whole country over, kill thousands of people, and destroy the Russian economy.
I know you are with me every step of the way.
Kind of makes “you can keep your health provider” a relatively small thing.
The ruble for Russian businessmen now buys nothing. Pretty soon there will be massive disruptions to the food supply in cities.
And also, concludes Vlad, please stock up on iodine tablets and duck tape because I think NATO means to nuke us back to the stone age. I will be okay in my bunker, so don’t worry about me.
Opposition is growing in Russia
The divide breaks down primarily between those who trust the government for information vs. those who don’t
Some people take the position that no one should believe anything until the governor of their region or the central government under Putin officially makes a statement on the matter
The first prosecution under Putin’s law against “fakes” has occurred, a young woman who was holding a placard on the street that was judged derogatory toward the Russian armed forces
Just think if there’s a Nuclear War the bunkers will be full of ancient politicians doing nothing but waste resources
All the same neocon crowd which were gung-ho about invading a sovereign country which had not committed any aggressive acts towards USA, are now having a cow when Russia invades a neighbor clamoring to join NATO and stockpile weapons.
Yes I refer to Cuban Missile crisis when US navy blockaded sovereign country of Cuba denying them access to their ports.
The difference is Cuba was 90 miles from US shores. Ukraine is right on border of Russia.
The Russian Army is going have to revolt. They did that in WWI so the same thing may happen to Putin. He’ll meet a similar fate just like the Romanovs did.
