Congressional Clown Show Bankrupts America
The Epoch Times - Commentary ^ | March 6, 2022 | Bob Byrne

Seemingly lost in the day-to-day nonsense of our political theater is the fact that the United States Congress is responsible for passing an annual budget.

You know, one of those things that determines how you spend your money and keeps you from going broke.

Well, once again our elected leaders on Capitol Hill have failed.

And once again they will plunge the country into financial chaos. The Reason There Is No Fiscal Discipline

The federal government’s budget is actually made up of various appropriations bills—12 in all. These are important because technically Article I, Section 9, of the Constitution states that, “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in consequence of Appropriations made by Law.”

But that’s a minor detail.

By the time the 2022 fiscal year began on Oct. 1, 2021, they had enacted exactly ZERO of these bills. Even though it’s required by the Constitution, this isn’t unusual. The last time the government approved all 12 bills into a budget by the start of the fiscal year was 1997.

It’s very clear and obvious to anyone with a pulse, Congress spends well beyond whatever means they might try to set for themselves. But here’s the point: their solution to this fiscal gridlock is even worse than the problem.

When our legislative branch can’t approve the required appropriations bills in time, they resort to something called a “continuing resolution” or CR. CRs are short term spending bills that allow the government to continue to operate—if you consider this kind of logjam “operating”—until they can work the kinks out of the spending bill. It’s like getting a pay-day loan while you’re waiting for your loan from the bank to come through.

Nothing changes till the money stops.

I have observed this in business going bankrupt. Everything is fine up to the day the bank calls their loan. Then it is the banks’ fault.

Any ideas on how the cash flow stops for the US?

We have observed a major world power in our lifetime that went bankrupt.

More like we are a country being run by fools. The citizens with common sense stay away from politics.

With exception of national defense, border enforcement, all federal departments, agencies and bureaucracies should take a 20% haircut.

Restore tariffs on communist Chinese goods and levy a 25% fee on all money transfers to Messy-co and South/central American countries.

Last but not least...pass a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Probably a good idea to purchase gold and silver. Supplies are limited and delivery times are longer than a year ago.

Precious metals have been used as currency since the beginning of time.

From related threads...

The ultimate remedy for unconstitutionally big, alleged election-stealing, Democratic Party-pirated federal and state governments, allegedly manufacturing crises to oppress everybody under their boots...

Consider that the states effectively have "veto power" over continued unpopular, unconstitutional actions of the feds.

This is especially the case with respect to unconstitutional federal taxing and spending, the post-17th Amendment ratification Congress regularly stealing state revenues and citizen's wallets by means of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

To stop the unconstitutionally big federal government in its tracks, consider that all the states can effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by doing the following.

Patriots need to primary federal and state elected officials who don't send voters email ASAP that clearly promises to do the following.

Trump-endorsed lawmaking candidates need to promise in their preprimary emails to patriots to introduce resolutions no later than 100 days after start of new legislative sessions that proposes an amendment to the Constitution to the states, the amendment limited to repealing the Progressive Era 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments (16&17A), little or no discussion required imo.

In fact, I challenge the states to ram the repeal amendment for 16&17A through the ratification process faster than Nancy Pelosi irresponsibly rammed unconstitutional Obamacare through the House. /semi-sarc

Insights welcome.

Unless we can cut the federal govt down to very little. They will continue to tax and spend in order to fund themselves and everyone they know and easy living off the taxpayers. The Fed reserve should be done away with completely. I’m not totally sure how a new banking system should be enacted, but I know the Fed is corrupt and has almost destroyed the country. I believe they knew Trump wanted major reforms with the evil Fed and that’s why they had to get him out.
