Russian oil is a lighter oil. That’s why the Russian oil from what I’m reading isn’t going to gulf coast refineries. Those were originally designed to process the heavy Venezuelan crude. Which is now replaced by Canadian crude.

What is holding up this “deal” is the negotiation over the size of the “commission” to be paid to Hunter Biden for “finding” this “new” source of oil for us...

Can Venezuela supply? Actually probly not much.
Their harbors are so gummy that tankers get all sticky when they pull in. The stuff is so nasty that even a 3,000 mile ocean wash to someplace else doesn’t wash it off. So few, if any, other ports are willing to receive the Venezuela cargos. Maybe Blinken could put in a giant steam cleaner/ hull scrubber someplace and make a few bucks on the side?

Sadly that’s a very believable possibility. We have fallen so far.

Ron DeSantis @GovRonDeSantis

It is wrong for the Biden Administration to beg for oil from Venezuela & legitimize Maduro’s communist regime during an official visit.

The U.S. should hold Maduro accountable while increasing domestic energy production so we won't need to rely on hostile regimes for energy.

Not only is their oil heavy but needs sweet, light crude mixed with it to refined into products. Gee where do you get sweet, light crude oil? The USA! So let’s buy heavy crude which requires sweet, light crude while we are reducing the producing of USA oil.

The Biden regime has long admired Venezuela and its leftist thug of the moment. In fact, VZ is almost a pattern for Biden’s leftist economy and civilization- destroying activities here. Not to mention police state.

Similar situation with the original Iran Deal... their allies were holding traitor Bowe Bergdahl. Gaining his release was the excuse for money laundering / handing all that foreign currency to Iran.

Like Bergdahl I think it is a deliberate way to create political cover. Give these countries hostages (whose families won’t stir up trouble here at home) in order to that these hostages can later be “rescued” by means of huge infusions of cash and the lifting of sanctions. The scandal then quickly gets dismissed when people think it was all for the sake of hostages that no one worried about to begin with.

I hadn’t thought of this being the case before.
I’m sure both political parties have thought about it, though.
