“I don’t recall MacGregor saying he would surrender if it was 1776...”

He didn’t. And neither did I. Go back and read my original comment. Hell, that’s likely too much of an effort for you, so I’ll quote it here: “MacGregor sees no problem in surrendering to tyranny. Thank God he was not around in 1776.”

You so readily jump to conclusions. Are you a Democrat?

“Russia is not America’s friend”

So what. Nations don’t have friends. And nations that think America is their “friend” have historically been making a very serious mistake.

Retired colonels like McGregor are a dime a dozen.
To the never served pansies in journalism they are wise savants, especially if they agree with left wing politics.

Wait till White raging Milley retires and gets hired by CNN.

MacGregor might have been wrong about Putin’s objectives, but his evaluation of the combat power of the Ukrainians is realistic.

They are the Detroit Lions. Putin is the LA Rams. Detroit could win, but the smart money wants lots of odds to make that bet.

In any case, that doesn’t change my evaluation. We should never trust biden to lead troops into battle. He is too senile, and he’s corrupt. He would sell them out in a heartbeat.

I don’t wan any more of our kids in a war. We’ve done enough, but I have no problem helping the Ukrainians. Putin started this, I’m hoping the Ukrainians finish it.

Encouraging the war is not good. I agree that this could have been solved in others ways. Now Russia sees who her friends are and how good his army is (needs work). He might well spin the USA into a depression or recession and weaken us for China to finish off. He is now using the Russian’s favorite tactic—”the bloody hammer”— Flatten every city, depopulate the East, rebuild with Russians only—so as to stall any partisan revolts. Push all Ukraine’s West for their own rump state. Let them do what they will without a seacoast or trade. A basket state for the West to bailout forever, until they grow sick of it and move on—or until China takes over.

“last time I checked the guy is a retired Colonel who literally put his ass on the line for the country. Wow!”

Not in any way comparable. He is calling for the surrender of a leader whose back is against the wall, but his troops are still in the fight and still bloodying the enemy. He still controls his capitol, though for all practical purposes it is under siege. He still has a strong force in the east, and it is pretty much holding its own against a superior force, at least for awhile. His troops are still quite effective. More than that, they are fighting for the survival of their country, and apparently they subscribe to Churchill’s dictum that it is better to fight and die than to live without freedom.

However, in August, 1776 the American army was driven out of New York, across New Jersey, and into Pennsylvania, losing battle after battle, until it was all but rendered ineffective, and on the verge of collapse. But George Washington refused to quit, and gambled everything on a surprise attack against Hessian forces at Trenton on the Morning of December 26. That rallied the disintegrating Continental Army and, though there would be future setbacks and hardships, galvanized the resolve of the patriots to defeat the world’s most powerful military at the time, and they eventually won their freedom and independence.

And yet, MacGregor has called for the surrender of the former, who is actually in a stronger position than that which Washington faced in December, 1776. So, yeah; it’s a good thing MacGregor was not around in 1776.

As for MacGregor’s military service — which from what I’ve read was honorable, though controversial — he only saw combat once, and that was in Desert Storm I at the tank battle of 73 Easting. It was a success, though his tactics were criticized by others, who deemed some of his actions “risky.” After that, he held only staff positions. He was denied any command positions and ended up his career as a colonel. And, he even recommended abolishing the United States Marine Corps! So, it is clear that MacGregor never even remotely faced the existential challenges of either Zelensky or Washington. Yet, he has the temerity to call for Zelensky to surrender?

It’s a hopeless endeavor but i want the Ukrainians to bleed Russia enough that Putin won’t try something like this again.

“...an idiot who predicted that Ukraine would fall in 2 days...”

Thank you for posting this and holding this guy accountable for his Putinista prediction. Lots of Freepers made the same prophesy or just said the war would be over before it started but now are still posting their garbage on FR.

Listen Zip Wad, this isn’t the Super Bowl. This involves patriotic Ukrainians fighting off invaders. Of course, the odds are long but do you want them just to give up their country to Putin’s dictates? I have family there. The Ukraine is real. Russia under Putin has become evil again.

We need to defend our borders against foreign invaders.

I have no problem with Ukraine folks doing the same.

The bulk of Russia’s population is in its west, while its vast eastern expanses are sparsely populated. NATO would envelope the heart of Russia if it occupied the north shore of the Black Sea.

NATO is a military alliance that outlived its purpose since the Warsaw Pact dissolved; it has steadily expanded to Russia’s borders and even instigated a 2014 coup in Ukraine and installed an anti-Russian government. Only 300 miles separates the Ukrainian border from Moscow itself, and now Russia has decided to invoke its own Monroe Doctrine. Many of us saw this coming twenty years ago.

I read his book “Warriors Rage’’. I don’t know what to make of him in this present situation, I don’t give a rip for what’s going on a world away from our own troubled shores.

But MacGregor was a damn good tank commander and blew up a
s**t load of Iraqi armor in 1991.

If Russia had not seized Crimea then there would not have been a water issue.

The population of Crimea is overwhelmingly Russian, owing to its historically strategic Russian naval and military bases, so the 2014 vote to secede from Ukraine after the Kiev coup was no surprise. The vote was 96% with an 83% voter turnout.

Putin worked with hillary to get US uranium. He fed bad info from russia to Hillary to try to take down Trump. Hunter, Kerry, Pelosi, were taking bribes from Ukraine.

I'm not convinced that Putin, Hillary, & Ukraine's criminals, and the new world orderites haven't intentionally set this up.
