So what? We have Elon Musk who is building better launch vehicles than NASA ever dreamed of, and he is stepping up production. There are other civilian companies that are right behind him with new launch platforms. Screw Russia and it's rockets.

I've believed for some time that NASA stopped thinking outside the box. Their last was the Shuttle which has been shut down. Plus, they are pretty much now a woke equity bureaucracy of the fedgov. Pfft.

Worth noting that SpaceX isn’t *completely* ready to take over yet - and the “emergency lifeboat” ship docked at the ISS in case the inhabitants have to evacuate is a Russian Soyuz, which gets rotated out for another on a regular basis. The Soyuz is old enough and tested enough that the things can be left up there on an extended basis. Dragon hasn’t been certified to do that.

I recall that when Obama took over, he changed NASA's focus to diversity with muslims.
