Captured Russian soldiers broke down in tears as they told their families they had been 'sent to their deaths' in Ukraine.
The prisoners of war were interviewed on camera by Ukrainian forces and said they had been used as cannon fodder in the war.
It comes after Ukraine claimed it had killed 6,000 Russian troops durning the first six days of the invasion.
Now footage is being shared online showing some of the captured invaders complaining about the war.
One captive was filmed speaking to his mother over the phone, telling her: “They sent us to death, everyone killed everyone.”
The soldier then broke down crying and told his mum ‘I love you too’.
In another clip, a different Russian prisoner said: “We came for training. We were lied to and that’s why I am here.”

Kinda reminded me of North Vietnamese parading captured American POWs to the press to show how well they were treated.

Russian tv shows videos of Russians handing out ‘humanitarian assistance’ like they’re little green men angels fighting Nazis and ‘nationalists’ (sound vaguely familiar?)...The only way to get the truth to the Russian people is thru Momma, who tells someone who tells someone who tells someone.
From more than one place I have heard this reported, thatthe russian troops thought they were just going off for a few days of training exercises.
Either they weren’t told the real mission, or they knew and it was a cover story. Just not sure why the crying part of it plays in on the second scenario.
There is a reason why the Geneva Convention bans this.

It is a violation of the Geneva Convention to show prisoners on the media like this, remember when we caught flack when some reporters snatched a view of al Qaeda terrorists in orange?

The weaker side in any conflict is usually tempted to transgress the rules of warfare to redress the balance on the battlefield. Every war the US has been engaged in in modern times the enemy has been given the benefit of the doubt by US forces precisely because we fear retribution against our soldiers. Recall that we are usually engaged in combat against a more primitive societies that wouldn’t hesitate to gut an American POW like a farm animal. Remember Daniel Pearl.
