Combat operations in Ukraine are coming to a critical inflection point and Congress must act now

Congress needs to expedite approval and delivery of a new significant package of military aid to Ukraine. We are both employees of or advisors to the Global Special Operations Force Foundation, the professional association for special operations, and we understand that we can’t wait until the middle of March for the United States to send aid.

Congress has an opportunity to quickly craft a proposal to send to the president this week. Time is of the essence. The battle for freedom and democracy in Ukraine is happening now and at a critical stage. This is the most consequential war since World War II because the outcome will shape international security structures for the next century, especially in Europe and Central Asia.

The conflict in Ukraine is a campaign that can’t be funded piecemeal. The required military material for Ukraine will exceed the $2.9 billion that is proposed in the $6.5 billion request from resident Biden. Congress must approve $16.2 billion ($2.7 billion monthly for six months) to cover the required military and humanitarian aid.

Combat operations are coming to a critical inflection point whereby both sides need to replenish supplies to the fighting forces and sustain the civilian populace. The question for both sides is who will run out of supplies logistically first, thus providing either the attacker or defender a substantial, if not decisive, advantage.

The most urgent needs are to resupply the Ukrainians to defend themselves against unrestricted Russian aggression. The Ukrainian Armed Forces and populace are fighting effectively in many places but are outnumbered and often outgunned. The Russians have superior mobility and firepower but lack the essential local knowledge and the will to fight this fight.

Based on what I’m reading and seeing, it sounds like the Ukrainian military is handling itself quite well.

But as this war drags on, the attrition due to combat losses, desertions, etc. is gonna increase. As that happens, it seems like they will lose ore of their effectiveness - even if supplied with all the right weapons.

In a way, it does kinda remind me of the Syrian Civil War. The Syrian military was so battered by losses (although that was over a longer period of time) that they were starting to lose their effectiveness against ISIS, etc. They were suffering from desertions too. only the timely arrival of the Russians and Iranian aid saved that country from being taken over by ISIS, etc.

Well, the U.S. is importing about 670,000 barrels of Russian oil per day. The Keystone XL pipeline could have replaced that amount, but Biden’s war on American energy, and the American people, means we are dependedent on foreign oil. Biden is afraid of higher gas prices ahead of the 2022 elections, so he continues to send millions of U.S. dollars per day to Russia.

From the article: Congress needs to expedite approval and delivery of a new significant package of military aid to Ukraine

No, Congress needs to expedite approval and delivery of the border wall to keep illegal alien invaders out of the United States.

Congress needs to expedite approval and delivery of a new significant package to the military to round up and deport the illegal alien invaders of the U.S.

They are highly-motivated, but in the process of getting cut off. Without some form of foreign assistance, whether a limited NFZ or a supply corridor protected by NATO, they are done in 60 days or less.

Bits of nations get sliced off in wars. Some during hostilities, some after. It just the truth. No amount of sentimentality regarding Ukraine is gonna change the fact that Russia intends to grab more of Ukraine tetritory for keeps. Poland still occupies German lands 77 years on. Turkey is still in Cyprus 48 years on. There are too many examples to name

And the Wall on our border can be finished for billions less.

Please list reasons for the billions requested by listing the equipment by type and category, maintenance, training, shipping, and other associated costs. Also project timing from bill passage to equipment arrival in Ukraine.

Explain why this expenditure is more important than finishing the Wall on the border in one paragraph.

Why? Why is it OUR job to bail out anyone other than ourselves?

If anything, we should be selling both sides all the "beans, bullets, and bandaids" either one can afford and swoop in afterwards to snatch up reconstruction contracts.

Well to be fair they consider British to territory but the Argentines beg to differ. Anyhow, I ain’t saying I approve of thos stuff, bit it’s international relations reality, not fantasy. And even when another power does intervene to stop the take over or salami treatment by another nation over another, it’s usually due to national self interest and not sentiment. Case in point. The U.S wouldn’t have cared a fig if Kuwait exported bananas instead of sitting on huge oil reserves. Clinton didn’t lift a finger during Rwandan genocide. No oil in it. Africa has any number of territirial wars going on at the moment. And not a western tear on a cheek
