Sounds like a hit piece. I believe capitalists take better care of the environment than the tree huggers out there. Unfortunately South America has too much 3rd world militarism in their blood and that doesn’t help.

Uruguay would be a good place for a winter home.

all normal events, that have zero to do with “climate change”

Illegal mining and Illegal logging are criminal in every nation in south america and if environmentalist want to do something about that they should take the privileged karen selves to South America and see the conditions on the ground. While they are down their they can deal with the illegal drug grows and processing.

Point being, the environment is at risk at these points because there is not an alternative to scrape out a living with the amount of people in an under developed region. Everyone wants a roof, lights and healthy environment for people on the edge of modern world existence, the environmentalist need to deliver that to anyone while being their own definition of green. There is no reason to assign the population of the edge to the bronze age cast because the UN says so.

Even in the desert Southwest we have our “100 year floods”.

We need to immediately lower our consumption of fossil fuels, not produce more energy. That is the Leftist solution.

“the forested mountains above Rio de Janeiro, received over 10 inches of rainfall – more than ever registered in a single day”

I thought global warming is going to cause droughts.

At least Putin will have to put a hold on his invasion in order to help deal with this.

The very first sentence presents a false premise. Even the IPCC in their scientific reports has minimized the “ extreme weather” story, finding that there are no trends in any of the “extreme” events. Then notice how they conflate
‘climate change” with deforestation, and other matters they want to control which have themselves nothing to do with climate.

This is how they purvey a false narrative intending to justify government takeover of every facet of life.

Like the charge of racism or white supremacy, climate change is a peel and stick decal they can pop on any natural event.

Then South American countries need to do something. The US should not be paying or be responsible for other countries to fix their perceived problems.

Brisbane, on the southeast coast of Australia, was recently flooded after several days of torrential rain fall.

Naturally, climate change has been blamed.

One problem...

North of Brisbane is a dam and a reservoir that are supposed to prevent massive flooding in Brisbane.

However, a decade ago, climate experts decided that SE Australia was going to become semi-arid - because of climate change.

Therefore, the reservoir is maintained at an artificially high level.

Because of the recent torrential rains, they had to release huge amounts of water to prevent the dam from collapsing.

The massive flood in Brisbane was caused by the dam and reservoir that are supposed to stop flooding!

While I am on a climate roll here...

Does anyone else think that wind mills disrupt natural wind patterns and cause climate change?

Scientists have long been warning that extreme weather would cause calamity in the future.

How much did the research for this gem cost us? Extreme weather can cause problems? You don't say!

Predicting extreme weather? That's the lab-coat version of shooting fish in a barrel. There is "average" weather but then mother nature has always liked to throw in a little spice. Anyone that understands a statistical distribution knows that every once in a while there are going to be "outliers" extremes at either end of the measured variable. These things are going to happen. Global warming, global cooling, global stagnation. There will still be outlier events.

It is all used-car salesmanship. Make it sound scientific, make it sound bad, breathlessly report it in the most sensational terms... Sorry, I'm not buying that '96 Cavalier with "only 30K original miles, trust me!"

“In just three hours on Feb. 15, the city of Petropolis, nestled in the forested mountains above Rio de Janeiro, received over 10 inches of rainfall – more than ever registered in a single day since authorities began keeping records in 1932.”

In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing.

But in South America — which in just the last month has had deadly landslides in Brazil, wildfire in Argentine wetlands and flooding in the Amazon so severe it ruined harvests — that future is already here.

Because those things have never happened in the history of the world until white man came along and ruined everything ... right?

The "follow the science" people need to follow it themselves. These land masses were at one time one. Over millennia, they separated. That's a lot of movement. That movement hasn't stopped. Never will. The earth is in a constant state of change.

LOL - Germany just announced they are now considering ALL energy sources to achieve energy independence. They have green-lighted 2 new LNG terminals, and will revive defunct coal plants.

One whiff of reality and the green agenda is GONE!

All this climate science stuff is hard to figure out, so I'll see if I can clear a few things up.

If you believe we should keep sending aid to South American countries to bring their lifestyles up to first world status, and you believe first world lifestyles create global warming, and you're mad that global warming is causing flooding and wildfires ... you might be a Democrat. LOL

George Orwell warned us of "doublethink". This is case of triplethink. LOL
