Vast queues have been seen outside cash machines is Russia, despite the country's central bank hiking interest rates in a bid to stop a run on the rouble.

Pictures show people in Saint Petersburg queuing around the corner to use nearby ATMs. It comes as fears rise of an economic collapse in Russia due to biting Western sanctions imposed following president Vladimir Putin's now floundering invasion of Ukraine.

In a bid to stop a potentially disastrous run on the rouble, Russia's central bank - The Bank of Russia - is hiking interest rates from 9.5 per cent to 20 per cent this morning.

Its board of directors blamed a 'drastic change' on the 'external conditions for the economy' behind the massive interest rate hike.

Top economists and the finance ministry also ordered exporting companies to sell 80 per cent of their foreign currency revenues on the market to try to support the rouble - the value of which continued to collapse against the dollar and the euro on the Moscow Stock Exchange on Monday.

Despite banking chiefs attempting to steady the ship, the Russian rouble plummeted 30 per cent overnight to an all-time low

The European Central Bank also warned on Monday that the European subsidiary of the Russian state-owned Sberbank - one of the Russian banks under UK sanctions - was facing bankruptcy.

Before our neocons begin cheering the economic destruction of Russia, please consider the coming pain Americans will suffer in defense of the liberal hegemony being put forward by Demented Joe, Hunter Biden, Victoria Noodleman, the old hags from the View, Soros, Sean Penn, Graham, Romney, Hillary, Liz Cheney, Kinzinger, the LGBT crowd, Brussels, Boris Johnson, Trudeau, Macron, Psaki, the State Department and our Pentagon.

Oh but it does matter. If you think this is just about Russia and Ukraine than you need to increase your understanding.

This wouldn’t have happened had Trump not had the election stolen by the very same people I listed in my #2.

It matters to me when so called conservative would align with KGB Putin and his delusional dreams of restoring the Soviet Union that President Reagan fought so hard to break. Never would have thought it in a million years.

Ukraine is not as simple as many would like. Ukraine has been shelling its own Donbass region because the majority there support autonomy from control by Ukraine’s government. Most people there are culturally Russian and speak the Russian language.

Many inside Ukraine do not support its present government.

Why would people support a government which kills its own citizens who disagree with its centralized and ruthless authority?

There is so much propaganda and fake news coming from the West about Ukraine right now, the prudent course of action for outsiders is to wait and see.

It’s not a language thing. And the Ukrainian people are united against Russia in the war. If they weren’t united, they would have surrendered by now.

We already know the destruction brought on by Biden, etc.

That doesn’t negate the fact Putin is a hegemonistic, thuggish POS who seeks to reassemble the USSR.

If Neocons had even a small bit of political acumen, you'd encourage Putin to reconstitute the former Soviet Union. He'd be flat broke in a week.
