Next month, California’s first-in-the-nation reparations task force is set to debate who should be eligible for direct payments proposed as a way to compensate African Americans for slavery and its lingering effects.

Why? Same here in WA. I’ve never owned any slaves and I’m not a Democrat who did.
I’m a Floridian, by way of Georgia and Wisconsin, with ancestors from eastern Europe who arrived in the U.S. after the Civil War. But surely, I get to “get some” too, no? Come on poor schlub taxpayers of CA, cut me a damn check!
Is Oprah’s billion dollar business empire one of the “lingering effects” of slavery? Is Russell Wilson’s $35 million salary? Is rap music? Is sexual promiscuity and the breakup of families, which dramatically increased AFTER the passage of civil rights laws? Are crappy Democrat-run public schools one of the lingering effects of slavery?
The first person who should be paid, of course, is Kamala (or is it “Que mala”?) Harris, descended from non-US slaves, which is perfectly reasonable she should be paid reparations.
Descendants of slaves are descendants of slaves, no matter where or when the slavery took place. (Not really. California dreamin’, doncha know?)
There were American slaves in California?
What “lingering effects”? Single parent families? High crime rates? We make our own choices, and they all have consequences.

California already did it’s job to stand up against slavery when they joined the US as a free state.
Also California’s first senator, John C Freemont (Republican) ran for President against James Buchanan on a platform to abolish slavery.
While he lost Lincoln ran on the same platform the next election and won.
So buzz off you Kalifornia reparations idiots.
Lets not forget our Irish ancestors who were here enslaved before the blacks. We want reparations too. We also want reparations for the lives our ancestors gave in the Civil war. We lost four Men, deserve something, even though we are WHITE.
They can start by paying Tiger Woods. He is from California.
It’s time to settle this. I say they find all the current slave holders and have them pay all their current slaves and emancipate them, fully.
All the Hollywooders should do “Slave-Aid” concerts to raise the money.
