The Ukrainian resistance against the Russian invasion is stronger than the U.S. first expected and has so far blunted the attack on Kyiv, as the Russians are landing an amphibious force near the city of Mariupol on the Sea of Azov, a senior defense official said.
U.S. officials had assessed as recently as Thursday that Kyiv could fall within 24-48 hours. U.S. officials still expect it could fall, but the senior defense official said the Ukrainians had slowed the Russians' push into the capital.

You need to study Russian History going back 400 plus years and the relationship of the the two countries.

Not stopped, slowed. As for Russian "tough troops", 250,000 of them are conscripts.
And, most wars ever fought had conscripts.
Dont be an idiot and confuse what the leaders are fighting for with what the actual troops are fighting for. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
