I actually used to know an old guy who believed we should try prohibition again. I said to him that it didn’t work last time, what made him think it would now? He said, “Well, last time they didn’t implement it right”. He was a nice old guy and I didn’t feel like arguing with him or asking him details on his idea of “proper implementation” regarding something that wasn’t going to happen anyway. But it still amazed me that someone today could think prohibition could be made workable.
I translate “Well, last time they didn’t implement it right” to “We did not use enough force and punishment.”
Prohibition on Cuban cigars has worked brilliantly.
Now we get to order them online from abroad—delivered to your door tax free.
If they were legal they would be taxed to the sky.
Remember—bootleg liquor would be tax free!
Did you ask this man if he had ever heard of the “War on drugs”? and how he thought that was progressing?!?
