SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- In the South Bay, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office said, "assault weapons, machine guns, and ghost guns" (all illegal weapons), were seized from what they're calling a "sophisticated ghost gun factory."
Three people are now in custody, accused of running the operation out of a home in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood.
Ask residents in the neighborhood, and many feel there's an undeniable sense of safety across this small pocket of San Jose.
However, located a little more than a mile outside of Downtown Willow Glen's core is what authorities are calling a full-scale ghost gun factory.
Along Roy Avenue and inside what's being described as an "unassuming $1.6-million home," a small arsenal was recently uncovered.
Weapons seized included eight assault weapons, like AK and AR-style rifles, as well as two handguns.
"Ghost guns are completely off the grid basically," Councilmember Dev Davis told ABC7 News.
The house is located in her district. Councilman Davis said state laws will take effect on July 1, which will tighten ghost gun restrictions.
"There's actually a new law coming online in July, so that any un-serialized weapons or firearm parts will be illegal to have possession of," she explained.

Give it a serial number
Liberal idiot - “Yes, but that only applies to the militia and the Federal government.” /Liberal Idiot
This... Despite the Preamble to the BoR, the express language of the 2nd, 10th, and 14th Amendments, the correct reading of the Miller decision, Heller, Nunn, Rock River, etc...
The sentiment behind the 2A is that GOVERNMENT, no matter the level, cannot take your Right from you absent throwing you in jail or the loony bin. From small rocks to big aircraft carriers... It is our RIGHT.
Period. Full stop.
wow! A “Gun factory” with 8 guns.
Just dayamn. I live in San Jose and I wish I had known about this place.

I’ve been pro-gun since I realized it was a right protected in our 2nd amendment, since I was a child.
I was gonna start building a gun collection in the 1980s. But then I saw this movie scene when Red Dawn came out. A chilled hush ran through the theatre.

I thought about that movie for 3 days. I decided I would never be on anyone’s list of gun owners.
I was vindicated in this decision when a Newspaper sparked outrage for publishing names, addresses of gun permit holders

And my decision was once again vindicated in the town I live in — San Jose, CA passed law requiring gun owners to get liability insurance

To be fair it probably does look a lot like the Remington factory.
So let me get this straight: The three were arrested for possession of weapons that were already illegal in the State of Kalifornia, yet a new law coming online in July would have stopped them from breaking the existing law?
***Now you’re catching on.
“...it must have a serial number.”
BR549-1, BR549-2, BR...
The suspects are all convicted felons. What a surprise.
an “unassuming $1.6-million home”...
Under Federal law it is only illegal to sell them. Most states they are legal to posses. California is just a fascist state.
… (all illegal weapons) …Not what the Second Amendment says at all.
The logical next step is Federal Drill Press control. Ten day waiting period. Back ground checks.
If Americans only knew of the evil that can be fabricated from what any teen age boy can buy at an innocent appearing Harbor Freight they would demand immediate action. Not only does Harbor Freight sell drill presses, they sell hammers. And a felon can easily use a hammer to forge a shiv from a hacksaw blade, also available at harbor freight. It is like a one stop store for terrorism.
Give me a junkyard and an acetylene torch, and I’ll show you some scary stuff.
Finishing receivers? —Child’s play.
Ghost guns are nothing new.
Anyone remember when Bobby Kennedy was shot down by a Palestinian immigrant and the news media went into anti-gun hysterics?
About that same time there was a raid in Southern California on an illegal sub machine gun manufacturing concern. Few people heard about this as it was said that the guns were being manufactured for sale and use in South America and had covert White House approval from LBJ.
Many firearms manufactured before 1968 did not have serial numbers. Mostly low cost .22 rifles.
Does anybody have data on how many prosecutions of crimes involving the use of a firearm are founded SOLELY on the tracing of a serial number? (not paperwork offenses, but gun left at scene of crime where perp got away, bullet matches gun, etc.)
If this method was producing results, why wouldn’t the FBI publicize the data?
Ain't that the truth! I saw a 'ghost car' once - no license plate, front OR rear, and no paperwork taped to the back window, either. It was obviously roaming the streets, just looking for people to kill, maybe even a school bus full of kids! Scared the living crap out of me - I didn't stop shaking 'til I got home and chugged a cup of hot & sour soup...
;>)
They owned a drill press.
Fully equipped.
Did you have a boating accident too?
