Polish Government backs plan to expand Poland's armed forces

Poland aims to modernise and expand its armed forces into one of the strongest in NATO, under a new homeland defence proposal backed by the government on Tuesday.

Outlining the plan to reporters, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński said the proposed homeland defence bill was designed to "create the legal basis and financial instruments for a radical expansion of Poland's armed forces in terms of both manpower and firepower."

Referring to escalating tensions with Russia over Ukraine, he added that "Poland must have at its disposal armed forces adequate to the kind of situation we have today--forces that will be able to fend off an attack and will be strong enough to prevent such as attack from happening."

Kaczyński, who heads Poland's ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, has previously told reporters that a country located at the external border of the European Union must have a major deterrence capability and be able to defend itself on its own for a long time.”

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak told a news conference in Warsaw that the proposed legislation would "lay the foundations for the development of Poland's armed forces" by opening up new sources of funding for the military and helping increase its numbers through new incentives for voluntary enlistment.

Under the bill, Poland's armed forces are expected to increase to about 300,000 troops, including 250,000 career soldiers, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The new rules would take effect on July 1 and replace regulations dating back to 1967, officials said.

It must really rub libs the wrong way to have to support Poland in this. A conservative anti-Muslim immigration, anti-LBTBXYZ county.

One good thing about Putin’s attack: many European powers will be greatly expanding their armed forces.

And piss off the dumb Russkies, who expected all of this to intimidate countries like Poland, whom they’ve been threatening for years. BTW, Russia even tried to weaponize Muslims against Poland just recently but failed miserably.

The Polish Army and the Hungarians are about all that stands as an obstacle to Putin (if he so wishes);and the Rhine, perhaps even the English Channel. The “woke” German Army and equally “woke” U.S. and British militaries will crumble against the Russians, who are not crippled by feminism or LGBTQ ideology.

Yes, this is an obvious consequence of the new Russian threat.

It will take time to build up their military. In the meantime, the US is sending 32 tank killer Apache’s and 8 F35 strike fighters into the Polish/Baltic region.

They really don’t support Poland. Poland is in a dangerous spot from Russia and the west.

This is incorrect, though you can be forgiven for feeling this way. Russian soldiers rape each other on the regular to such an extent that there are high numbers of suicides every year (which the Russians blame on violent video games or other nonsense). It is part of the Russian army's gulag culture where brutal hazing and rape are utilized the same way they do in really violent third world prisons.

Meanwhile, the Belarusians complain that the Russians stationed in their country recently left miles of trash and empty alcohol bottles, with Russian soldiers nearly killing themselves by getting drunk and passing out in the freezing cold. The soldiers regularly steal from the army, even selling their weapons, uniforms and ammo to pay for nearly fatal amounts of alcohol with which to keep themselves constantly drunk.

This is still a third world army but with fancy gear paid for with theft.

What makes Russia dangerous is that, thanks to Western lack of military preparation, and thanks to them breaking every single arms treaty they have ever signed, this shithole country with a GDP smaller than Florida has the most advanced nuclear forces on planet Earth, and possess more nukes than the US, UK and the France combined.

The Russian military is overrated. They struggled in Georgia and it is taking 65% of their military to threaten Ukraine. They can take Ukraine, but they cannot hold it.

There is a reason that Putin only attacks non NATO nations. He knows he can’t beat the West.

Insight view into to Polish politics.
As a leader of the party, Kaczynski is de facto boss of Poland. Both President and Prime minister(s) serve according to his will. He is generally content with pulling the strings and standing in the shadow. When he steps in, he means it!

“The Polish Army and the Hungarians are about all that stands as an obstacle to Putin (if he so wishes);and the Rhine, perhaps even the English Channel.”

Pretty much so. The Germans have lost their martial spirit, and will offer little — if any — resistance to a Russian attack. Poland and Hungary, on the other hand, will fight. The Czech Republic has only 25,000 troops under arms, so it may plug a gap for a few hours.

I don't think the Russians have the ability to permanently occupy Ukraine. However, outside of Poland and Hungary, and possibly the Czechs and the Slovaks, the NATO alliance is a paper tiger. Western European and American NATO's militaries are underfunded and hamstrung by Gramsci type Marxism, as evidenced by women and perverts in combat units, top commanders in thrall to the Left, and in the case of the U.S., racial antagonism.
