Democratic political operative and former Fox News host Bob Beckel has died at age 73, his longtime friend and fellow columnist Cal Thomas confirmed Monday evening. His cause of death was not specified. Beckel famously ran Walter Mondale’s failed 1984 presidential campaign and later became a Fox News political analyst, often serving as a token Democratic voice on the network’s panels. In 2011, he became the curmudgeonly co-host of the network’s midday talk show, The Five, until he was unceremoniously kicked to the curb following his recovery from back surgery, with Fox declaring in a statement that the show would not be held “hostage to one man’s personal issues.” He briefly served as a political analyst for CNN before returning to Fox News in January 2017, only to be fired once again a few months later after allegedly making racist remarks to a Black colleague. Beckel struggled with addiction for much of his life, as detailed in a 2015 memoir, I Should Be Dead: My Life Surviving Politics, TV, and Addiction.

I suspect like most TV pundits, he was an actor playing a role.
As dems go he was more decent than many of them. Sorry to hear of him dying at a relatively young age.
We used to have lots of liberals who had ‘basic standards’.
Hard to find those needles in the haystack, now.
You’re a dismal little $hit alstewartfan. A big pussy.
He came to mind a few days ago. Was wondering what became of him? Hope he didn’t suffer too badly on the way out.
His commentary and politics rubbed me badly at times but no doubt he was a tough old bird and you need that to survive politics.
RIP
Bob was a likeable foe. Much like Carville, he spoke truth when their side was f-ing up.
Somewhat similar to Tim Russert.... You clearly knew which side of the Aisle he was on, but still exposed the Leftist agenda....
My mother said “if you can’t say something nice, then say nothing”.
In that case then.....

That's the opinion I always had, although if he was anti-freedom in these modern times then I'll retract.
Alan Colmes was a likeable liberal too. Not a nasty leftard of today’s variety .
Sure was.
He was obese, and he had issues which usually require meetings.
Like the time he paid a teenage hooker with a check from his wife’s checking account, while they were in the process of divorcing?
I think he had a long clean streak and relapsed.
It happens to many people, even after years.
RIP.
Even though sometimes I couldn’t stomach him.
No sense in arguing with or against a dead man.
Someone more important - and even more exacting, while lots more forgiving - is doing that, now :-)
His obsession and flirtations with Kimberly Guilfoyle was hard to watch.
