As a nation, we have turned away from God a long time ago. We turn our face from Him, and He turns his face from us.

At the turn of the last century, Canada had an average Sunday church attendance that was higher than in the US. Canada’s original name was the ‘DOMINION of Canada’ and our motto in Latin is ‘A Mari Usque Ad Mare’ Both ‘Dominion’ (as opposed to ‘Kingdom’, for example) and the motto come from Psalm 72:8 (”He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.”)

As a Nation, we have turned from God, so it is no wonder we are in the world of trouble we are currently in. One need only look to Israel in the Old Testament. As the nation prospered, the majority of the people’s eyes strayed to what their neighbours were doing, away from Jehovah. Then destruction would come. Eventually, a remnant who kept focused on Jehovah, was restored.

When we turn from Him, we suffer.
